Rabbits

Post by Beagler95 »

I have 2 rabbits that i bought from a guy and i am not sure if they were from the same litter or not. I have had them about 2 to 3 months. I would like for them to breed so i can put some in a pen down the road or etc. But they have not seemed to do much of anything. They were young when i got them, but i am not sure of the age. Maybe 2 months or something like that. I jus wanna know if yall think that they will breed eventually or what your opinions are. Thanks alot!

Don't quote me on this but I think they reach sexual maturity around 6-8 months old. After that nature should take its course.

In my opinionyou need to seperate the doe from the male in seperat pen then when you want to try to breed them you put the female into the males pen. This how we always did you get better breedings that way,the male is domonat in his pen. just my 2 cents Dan

Dan,

Once you put the doe into the males pen, how long would u leave her in there to know that they bred?

Are you sure of their sex? It is hard to tell until the buck reaches sexual maturity. If you have a buck and a doe and they are mature enough to breed then when you put the doe in with the buck they will go at it immediately. I usually let them breed a few times which may only take 10 minutes before I take the doe out. I will repeat this the next day. I am new to this myself but this has worked for me. A doe doesnt come in heat she is ready to breed anytime.

keep them seperate until you are ready to breed them. They should be old enough by 8 months. I leave mine together for 48 hrs.
