demodectic mange ?
I had a pup a year ago get mange. I just a pup that is 10 weeks old and noticed the same symptoms, so i went to the vet and picked up some mitaban dip for $32.
I have also read on here about using ivermectin to treat it.
Let me know any other ways to go about it or some ways you have used.

Don't know about a 10 week old pup, but Ivomec 1/10 cc orally for 28 straight days is what was prescribed by a vet I know about 5 years ago. The dog was about 8 months old and weighed 25 lbs. at that time. To my knowledge the dog never had a problem again. Hair started growing back in about 10 days and was almost completely normal after the 28 days.

I used to raise english bulldogs and that was pretty common in them and I've tried everything and the best the Mitaban dip twice, onece a week. this can be passed down so give it some thought when breeding.

Re: demodectic mange ?
Most all dogs have the demodetic mange mites living in the pores of their skin. They acquire them early in life, from their mothers. Most dogs have no problem with them.It will turn into the "disease phase" usually around 3-12 months of age in dogs that have a lowered immunity to the mite. There is some speculation that stress may be a contributing factor that allows the mite population to rapidly increase and affect the animals health. The disease also may be related to nutrional and immunological deficiencies. In the case of an immunological deficieny there is some thought in regards to this being a genetic predispostion to being suceptible to the problem in certain strains and /or breeds.
Years back I had a coonhound with the problem and the vet. had me dip him in Mitoban twice,14 days apart and give him 1/10 cc of Ivomec squirted in his mouth every day for 30 days and this cleared him up nicely never to return.Good luck and I hope you have success.Be aware though that some bad cases will return and don't get cured.
