hey bucks better beagles i don't mean no disrespect but if you do nothing but take it aren't you eating that crap sandwich  . Chuck is a respected friend of mine and i see he thinks the same of you which means a lot but like i stated earlier i think people (businesses) should be held accountable for services that they are selling/offering and making profit from. This don't just affect chuck , or just patch guys, but everybody that sends in their hard earned money to have registered dogs. Why are we doing it if the pedigrees are not right  These guys just want it fixed so that everybody has the right papers to the right dogs if that isn't bettering the breed than i don't know what is because it isn't coming from the AKC . thanks cojax

IMO - The letter from AKC stateing that the matter would not be persued really STINKS. Their logic and total lack of concern for the integrity of the breed as well as maintaining a creditable registerie reeks of a double standard. If they choose to do so, they can ignore facts or choose not to correct a fradulant registeration statement or punish someone that does the same thing. It would be a BIG plus for all of us if AKC was made to account for this lack of performance (providing the quality of service that so many of us have paid for). The sad thing here is that AKC has set a presidence for itself and can and will refuse to correct records in the future.
Other Registeries are available and will accept our AKC Certificates. AKC Certificates have absolutely no bearing on how well a dog performs.
No doubt about it, there are two culprits in this mess, the person that signed the false Litter Application and AKC for not taking appropiate action to correct it.
Good luck in whatever your decision may be.

If all of us that are fed up with AKC taking our money and and not doing what we are paying them to do would post on every outdoor board we visit, we could make a difference.
E-mail all your friends that own dogs, ALL dogs not just beagles.
E-mail AKC themselves and voice your disatisfaction with this decision.
Lets put pressure on the AKC to do the right thing.

IMO, 13 years isn't that long ago, basically could be just 2 generations back.

WE, the pure bred registered dog owner, is why they are in business and make money.

It really baffles me that there are people willing to say, oh well, it is what it is.
What can we do but take it up the proverbial azz from the AKC, well, bend over then!

Cojax, Charlie, Swampman: don't mean to disagree with anything you say about AKC. My point is to pick your battles. Sure there are other registries but this is the one most people go to. If your campaign can hit enough hunters, then everyone just stop using AKC and send them a letter advising them why you are doing so. Personally, I never cared for them and am old enough to remember the wide spread fraud that went on in the very old days. It never mattered unless they got caught. In this case, someone got caught, big time.

The thread was about class action suites. You pay a lawyer and you waste your money. I have been involved with a lot of lawyers. Jousting at windmills is not their goal. Money is what they want. They are not going to care what AKC does or does not do. In the end, nothing will change but I wish you luck in whatever you decide to do. I think you boys need to be made whole but there may not be anyway to get this done. Just saying.

I agree that this situation stinks. Akc should have done something more than write a denial letter. Not sure what they could have done, but the fact is it's a bad deal. I also believe that this can't be the first time something of this nature has happened with them. I would guess this has happened many times and with many breeds. In my opinion ,the Akc registration of a liter of pups , or any dog for that matter, is an honor system. We all know that there are many people in this world that are not so honorable or trust worthy for that matter. I would also guess that this could be a reason that they also now use DNA testing to determine blood lines for questions of ancestery. A man may lie on paper , but the DNA will tell the truth. Maybe, eventually, they will start requiring all registrations to be DNA tested to eliminate any disputes on bloodlines.

As far as what to do with this case, and how they handle it, I'm not sure. Will a law suite change the damage done? Maybe , if the Akc was forced to "right the wrong" .Again, I'm not sure how they would go about it. I feel the true damage done here is the loss of credibility. How they have allowed a "LIE" to look as the truth. Is there any way to determine the real sire of the liter in question ? This is definately a snowball affect. The more time goes by , the more offspring that this could potetionally affect.

There is a saying ,I'm sure most have heard many times, that holds very true to this situation. A pedigree wont run a rabbit or make a dog. At this point I agree with Buck's Better Beagles. I would save your money on a law suite and continue to spread the word. If accurate pedigrees is a priority for your kennel, then you now know the names to stay away from.If I didn't like going to an occasional Akc field trial, I would care less of the registration anyway.I've seen some very nice "grade" dogs run as good , and some even run better, than a Akc dog.

Wireman,
Go to Searching for info, click on Check your patch ped`, scroll to 14th reply from David this could have happened but,but ,but.If you click on the link Hammerenpatch put on you can read from start till now. Thanks for the reply from every one. Your correct papers don`t run a rabbit which I have stated, and if they are incorrect you do not know the lineage of your dog.

Charlie, I lost two dogs last night. Sure could use a couple of them hard hittin white dogs about 8 months old, big and slender and get to the front types. Don't care about the pedigree but they got to want the front end no matter how they got to get it. Got any like that?

Ah, you remember how we used to do it. I turned em lose, they vanished and I spent the night in the woods. There came a terrific storm with wind and lightening but, fortunately, I had my friend Jack Daniel's with me so we just put the seat back and rode her out. I feed my dogs real good and they treat my like this, makes me want to change brands.

That is insane to me..... We had a dog that was ten years old come up with dirty akc papers on the dna when we did it and they unregistered every last one of them and banned the person doing it... found out his dog got hit by car and died and he got a shelter dog claiming it was his dead dog for YEARS..!! if I remember right they gave a special paper to the owners of the falsified dogs and it affected a LOT of people.

If you want, I know my dad keeps records on that stuff so I can post them on here of the findings and stuff.. This was several years ago and I stay out of the akc stuff but i can hunt it down if you need it I'm sure..
God isn't real, Beer is good and people are crazy, there I fixed it.

We bought an AKC registered Yorkshire Terrier for big money from a breeder a few years ago. 6 months after buying the dog and after receiving the AKC official paperwork they sent us a letter notifying us that the dog was no longer registered because of a problem with the lineage of it. We lost our tail on that deal because the breeder would not take her back and told us to just sue her....however she ended up being a great dog. Just a little FYI...it can be done. :???:
