Listen boys Fact a young dog can do well in any format because they do not understand the pressure yet they just run a rabbit. That being said i will bet u that if you keep running that young dog in hunts by the time he is a five year old dog he will not be near as good. Took a very young dog at one time just killing everything i had. Going to hunts and placing and winning a old man ask me how old she was. I said 9 months. He says nice hound but if you keep running her in these hunts at that age you will scrabble her brain she does not know enough about competition to sort out the bullshit it that will ruin her. Guess what i did not believe him i Should had listen she came out of a hunt one day at a derby hunt in Albion Ind. and never run a rabbit again i blew her up. If you honestly believe a young dog knows all he needs to know to be a great dog then why does it take our kids so long to figure out that there mothers and fathers just might know more then them. experience will always take over in the long run maybe that young dog has some shine and does everything right that day but at a young age you will do more damage then good. I believe the old guy now. That being said if you feel you have a great young dog and you would like to run it with a pack of 3 to 6year old dogs for 6 to 8 hours i guarantee you that the young dog will fade and maybe even quit. I see it everyday the longer you run the more the dogs will judge themselves and they will tell you who is dominating them its just that easy. congrats to all the winners young and old we all know you have to have a good dog a honesty group of men and a whole lot of luck. You Scott Flurity are not one of the honesty men i am talking about.

I think there is very little doubt that the beagle breed has improved in the last 25 years. some are better fit for certain formats . The whole objective is improving the breed and carrying on specific traits that you prefer, you dont need a title in ANY specific format in order for it to be a good hound. just my opinion James Hunt

eddy you crack me up I did not mean to bash anyone in ukc or the format I had a blast just do not care for all the arguing and belly aching involved in ukc cast. I can say one of the most fun times I have had at a trial was when we were all just sitting around at nationals cutting up.
