I'm about 3 hrs northeast of you Buck's. assuming your running in allegany forest? never can figure out the hare change thing. everything you read says it has to do with vernal equinox... blah blah blah. so no matter whether there is ever snow again the hare will still change, so why do they change at slightly different times depending on location? I was running yesterday and the 2 I seen were snow white.
Do the hare live good in areas like that where there is no spruce? I hare hunt alot but every where I hunt them there is spruce thickets. We had snow last week but it's bare ground now and the last hare I ran was almost all brown again.
Good luck hunting!!
I think if you got the right elevation above sea level, enough water, some evergreens and adequate cover thats all that they require. they maybe more plentifull the more spruce and cedat thickets you have.
