I like 3 maybe with a bit of 2.... Unfortuanatly my hound is more 2 and 3 most the time, and if he ran in the pack he'd probably try to be the lead dog.

What happens after #1 ? after they swing cheat cut to get to the front. Then what does the dog do after it gets the front?

Joey , choice #1 is a swinger and a skirter (use your own imagination) but my imagination says he would probably be pressured by the other hounds causing him to swing & skirt until he loses the line and creates more checks (he may swing out and pick them back up or may gamble and lose),(this dog would be hard to handle on great scent days where the bunny runs big) perhaps in places like Indiana . #1 is not a rabbit hunters dream to say the least but it's the type SOME LP trialers may like most . If scenting was good and the rabbits run big #2 would be hard to clean after and would be a better "meat hound" than dog # 1 . If scenting was poor or the rabbit runs tight cicles then #3 would probably do best . These are just my opinions and my imagination of the different scenarios , yours may be different .

it would be nice to have a pack for hunting coal mines on good scenting days #2 & a pack for tough days in farm country where they turn every 50 yards or so # 3 but since time & money are limited i think ill go with what jude says is the perfect dog #4 :approve: "im easily pleased with perfection" churchill. by the way i voted for #3 jmo

Dogs that cheat to the front, usually lose the front after obtaining it.

That's because they're worrying about where the other dogs are at instead of worrying about where the rabbit is at. If I wanted a dog to just chase other dogs I may as well take my lab along.

what number is this dog? might over run a sharp corner a bit can come back and figure it out , and in a big lose expands it's search inside out ?can't stand a dog that keeps mouthing at its last lose .over running might cause a lose but a mouthy dog not moving nothing tends to keep dogs from expanding there search after a lose. i'm going on this poll that i like a 2.5 dog ;)

I like one and two. not 3. If I go to a trial and pray for bad scenting and runnin to give me a chance to win. I wouldnt feed them. I got to ad I dont gun hunt so I cant relate to any of that.

I Like a Strong #2. I want a dog that wants the front but uses his/her nose to get it. Any dog can swing/cut out ahead but can he/she hold the line?
I cant stand a "me too dog". If i have a dog that 9 out of 10 times are in the middle of the pack never trying for the front, SEE YA. If i have a dog that
swings and cuts and when he/she gets the line loses it withing yards of getting it, see ya.

I like to Listen to any pack run but i LOVE to WATCH the upper speed dogs rock and roll!!!!
