I had a feeling the afternoon would be better. I planned my day based on the weather forecast for an inch or less of wet snow overnight and the weatherman got it wrong again :mad2: . They have suxed at forecasting snow and temps. this season. If I had heard we were going to have 6 inches I may made arragements to go out later instead. Maybe someday I will learn to go by my own weather forecast.

I went out yesterday and didnt get anything up (not a peep from the dogs)
In some places the snow was to my knee's, very little tracks and when you did see some they were around piles and holes, The rabbits are just not active here at all, I have 102 acres here and run rabbits all year (not a ton of rabbits but they are here), Its been like pulling teeth trying to get a rabbit up and running and yes my dogs hunt

YEP!! You can't run a rabbit if it won't stay up and run. I've noticed if we go just a little distance away from where I live and we get some good running cause the rabbits will stay up and play. Come back home and it's a mad dash to the hole again. :mad2: Then again there's those guys with the ghost trailers that can run a "rabbit" no matter what.............even if the rabbits aren't actually there to run! :D Those dogs can run in ANY conditions. ;)

Its hasent been a good winter here probly worst one in a while for rabbits numbers dogs spend alot of time looking for one to run. We have had snow all winter so you can see tracks and there hasnt been hardly any all winter. To me on the years when the rabbit numbers are good they run good but when there down the rabbits dont want to run.

I ran with Ron yesterday afternoon and he said the dogs just pounded on Sunday down to your place. Poor little khaos looked like he could barely move when we took him back out yesterday. The rabbits DID NOT want to play again yesterday afternoon so I decided to go out this morning for a few hours. Lots of bunnies out yet from last night............lots of feeder tracks to confuse my dogs :???: ..........and some picky running on the crusty snow. But overall I was pleased with Hemi and Pete........Sadie however was another story. At least there were rabbits out to run that's all I know.

had probably some of the best running I had all season this morning.had one go for probably 20 min,and decided to dump it for the dogs.jumped another pair, and they went close to an hour with it.had a stray come out and sit 20yrds from me for 20 min while they ran.lots of old snow yet,but they ran well.the best part was I killed my first rabbit over my little primetime/ zipper pup.she hung right in there.I think were finnaly turning the corner for some good running.

Well it is now raining here (St. Clair county) and they are calling for 2-4"s of snow in the next 36 hrs, this little snow wouldn't be bad BUT everything is soaked or flooded right now and this will just add to the mess, i am taking the dogs for a "free for all" today and maybe I will get lucky and get a race out of them

Got my rain gear in my pouch, wish me luck...
