Dan,

You are exactly right... I dont want to go down the Branko argument road again.... It is people like us that make them a puppy mill. I highly doubt they would breed 50 so called litters a year if someone didnt want to buy them? What do they do with all these crap eaters? They breed because people want, Simple Supply to the Demand. I didnt condone and dont possibly know how many litters are bred each year there, all I know is when they have dogs listed for sale you go back in a week and guess what? They are all sold.... Makes me think they know what they are doing.
hounds... hare.... hunter.... bang... what gets better than that.

Without getting into the latest edition of "The Great Branko Debate", I always thought that Terry McBride deserved a certain measure of the credit for Branko's success. His dogs were instrumental in their foundation stock yet you seldom hear them mentioned.

I think talking about ranger dan's conformation is miner compared to him having seizures if not run much.I don't think many people knew this, maybe i am wrong but i do believe he had them

I certainly didn't mean to cause an uproar here. Coyote hunter, we all are entitled to our own opinions, that's what makes these boards interesting. From my personal experience of the Branko hounds I have observed they are by and large excellent hounds. I have owned several, most were excellent, some weren't. In fact I have bred quite a bit of Branko blood into my kennel, not because of any fad or the fact that "Branko" was in front of their name, simply because I liked what I saw in the dogs I bred to and sought that in my own hounds. For me, the results have been excellent. No, not all Branko dogs are perfect, I've seen a few that were no good, but the same can be said of any line.

Furthermore, I think if you ask Branko or Frieda they will tell you first off where they got their start. I believe Geoff Montgomery had alot to do with their early beginning as did Rick Dewsbury and Terry Mcbride. Of the conversations I've had with them I've spoken with Freida mostly. She is a hard lady not to like, very intelligent, friendly, states her mind and tells it like it is. As far as their not attending many trials. I think their closest one is here in Michigan, and that's a 12 hour drive. Not easy to do that very often. If it sounds like I'm defending them, I guess I am. They are no special friends of mine, but what's right is right. They have done much to improve the breed and are continuing to do so. Yes, their breeding program suffered a set back in the past few years, but they have rebounded and are still producing excellent hounds. Take a look on the list above. If it weren't for the Krpans their would be no Jiggs, Ali-Baba, Ranger Dan or Blue Ninja, just to name a few. Whew, I'm getting long winded. Just my opinions.

;) And if there was no Trimmer there would'nt be hounds like Jack of all trades etc. I think all beaglers or most of all have contributed to the betterment of the breed in their on little ways, you like what you like and hate what you hate, you keep and feed the worthy, the unworthy you move on.I look at Branko stuff everyday I like what I see in some and others so,so.It's all about what you like and what you want to keep so release the hounds and let 'em run. :D

by the way if I can make a living doing what Branko does on his farm I'll do the same so hats off to the Karpan's for a job well done.

Coyote Hunter,
AKA Dan, AKA Mr. Black Velvet, I wonder if any of these guys have ever heard of I'm Alone Pop Tart or Branko's Roll'Em Rosie. These are dogs that will never be forgotten in my mind.

Good post Slaux, as you and others have said, no beagler stands alone in his/ her accomplishments- all of us have someone else to thank for our hounds. By and large a good discussion til gutless people like "Bucky" spew their garbage. Just what are YOUR contributions to the breed "Bucky"????? Thought so. Time to move on.

I would haft to say F.C. Buddys Iron Eagle. my reason is from this hound I received the best dog i own .first he is a rabbit hound the kind of gun dog that is just the awesome.then his trial record F.C. title spo midwest 2nd an NKC title. I have owned what seems to be allot of the other hounds listed on the board but none of those pups turned into the hound I recieved from Eagle. Breeding a hound allot is one peice of the puzzle getting the pups to right people is the biggest challenge.Tally ho
