Ok , you shoot the rabbit ,how long after that does your dog or dogs track in up to the shot rabbit?? I was out yesterday ran 3 shot 1 and the one I shot was about 1 min. before the dogs tracked it up to the rabbit..I thought thats not bad with the snow and ice on the ground. rbinford1

That all depends on conditions and the dogs. Sounds like you got some nice med speed dogs in those conditions.

It also depends on how far ahead of the dogs the rabbit was when it was shot. In addition, how many and how good was the checks the rabbit made berween you and the dogs. I have killed rabbits that were running almost a half mile ahead of the dogs. This is not uncommon for rabbits that have been chased by fox or yotes. Swamp rabbits are noted for jumping 3 to 4 feet onto a log or blowdown, running it lenght and going on their away. I am not sure that a dog's speed has a great deal to do with it. Just too many variables.
