My first ever trial tomorrow.. (ukc) quick questions

Forgot to ask my friend these questions maybe you all can help me...Think I got it mostly figured out


When we are casted and judge starts his clock, can I help the dogs find a rabbit or even talk to my dog at all?
are dogs minused points for following each other before the race?

just kinda confused on the starting procedures...

The answer to your first question is no the dogs are casted freely meaning no help and no talking to your dog. The answer to your second question is no they are no minused for just following each other around. But also if your dog doesnt hunt for 5 min they are scratched. Hope this helps anymore questions just ask.

that's the only thing I am worried about... not sure how much she will hunt without copper there for the first couple minutes... and when I point to an area she will get in the brush where I think the rabbits are... I hope some dog strikes before the 5 minutes to get her into the swing of things....


I'm gonna start soloing her this spring but haven't had the time and I just want to go see what trials are all about...

when you 1st turn loose at the start of the hunt you actually have 8 min. when the 1st 3 min. is gone then you have 5 min. just go have some fun & learn. this is a good way to get your dog around different dogs .

Its the one in myrtle MO down south with the MO-ark beagle coon club. Seem like some good guys


If things go good I will go to the one in dixon sunday....then next month I will go to the one in Tiff mo..

I just wanna meet people to hunt with, its no fun going by myself anymore...

might want to read the rules u dont have 8 mins to hunt u have a total of 5 and that first three is included then 2 more after the three . u dont have to strike in the first three if u dont want to read the rules and have fun hope this helps
if u talk to the dog after u unleash the snap first offense will be a scratching offence, no hand signals etc
