Voting for Kasich was based primarily on the fact that Strickland made a backroom deal with HSUS. Believe me, they are more of a threat to beaglers than any gun control group. I would have greatly preferred a ballot issue instead of a secret deal made without voter input. I believe we could have defeated the HSUS at the polls, if we all worked together.
On the high speed rail....How many people would actually ride a train from Cincinnati to Columbus or Cleveland when you can hop in your car and make it much quicker by I-71? What a waste of 40 million (??) dollars of taxpayer money. And people in large areas of the state would get no benefit from it. Again, Kasich seems to make sense on this issue.
Some of you obviously are not getting it, so there's no point in continuing this discussion. Just one word of advice....The HSUS is out to get you. Giving them ANY concession is a loss for all of us. It's probably just a matter of time before they stop all hunting, trapping, pet ownership, animal farming, etc. Let's fight them as long as we can!

Beagle Huntsman ,Ask the guys from Missouri how that vote on Prop B went for them on tuesday.Beagle Breeders are talking about quiting in that state. SO do not be so sure about winning at the polls.
"Prop B passes by 60,000 votes out of 2 million. The "In"Humane Socety of United States has shut down the free enterprise System in those wanting to have a professional kennel in Missouri. "

Hunters and Farmers regretfull are not the majority. Many silly, do gooder americans all over the country have passed stupid "humane" laws. Its certainly not impossible when you had the calf punching poster boy.
Yes the Humane Society is the enemy, but if Kasich allows the EPA to get control of the ODNR, well control is lost. The EPA has long been an arm of groups similar to the Humane Society .....Green Peace.....The Sierra Club..... The reality is we have shown you multiple reasons to be cautious about Kasich and you spout the same one over, when in many circles Stricklands decision may have averted catastophy.
Kasich is the Governor he has an opportunity to show he is going to be different than in the past, lets give him his chance, reward him with another term if he has, and hammer him if he screws us. Most people vote by party and emotion without fully knowing the facts or doing research.

Ohio agriculture is huge and powerful! Mr Kasich is nothing with out ag support. Every major metropolitan area in ohio has their boundaries at a corn/soy bean field. Farmers are generally quiet, until you mess with them.
In 1998 the animal rights groups got an issue put on the ballot to ban dove hunting in Ohio. The issue failed in all 88 counties. The fanatics and freaks were bold and loud but, were out numbered. I work for some of the rich and famous in the columbus area, and they hunt and many have ties to agriculture.
I believe as long as we have our VOTE we can still have control. Our politicians found that out on Tuesday.
Stay involved and always vote

Re: Ohio Beaglers!
I rarely vote Democrat but definetely voted for Strickland. He has brought new business in and has other projects in the works. Most will likely be crushed by the new administration. Kasich is an idiot to think he will just give the money back and the federal government will pay it on the National Debt. It will be used for railway expansion IN ANOTHER STATE. Obviously a politician that knows little about politics. Obviously not focused on employing Buckeyes. Just more lies. He is just getting started guys but you (OHIO) voted for him. Now sit back and watch what the Lehman Brothers exec has up his sleeve next. I typically get behind whoever wins. Hard to do on this one.
Need a copy of the deal you talk about between HSUS and Strickland.

Here's the email I received from Dennis Foster, who is the Executive Director of the Masters of Foxhounds Association:
Humane Soc. gives nod to Ohio's incumbent governor Oct 18, 2010 5:25pm Email Print
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The political arm of the Humane Society of the United States has made its first-ever foray into the Ohio governor's race, endorsing Gov. Ted Strickland over Republican opponent John Kasich (KAY'-sik).
The nation's top political organization for animal rights cited the Democrat's role in negotiating a June agreement between animal-rights and agriculture interests. The deal called for the Humane Society to pull an anti-animal cruelty measure off the fall ballot in exchange for tougher rules governing farm animal care and a host of other animal protection measures.
Kasich spokesman Rob Nichols says Strickland deserved the endorsement.
He says he placed the Humane Society among "left-coast and Washington-based groups that wage war against Ohio's farmers."
