What I don't understand Joey is if you are gun hunting why aren't the rabbits far enough ahead of the dogs that you all can get to them before the dogs do after the shot. I have had several dogs that will retrieve but I have never had the other dogs to wait on them so they could retrieve.

Joey, I have read 4 pages of this and that i once owned a dog the same way. My friend steve-huck-howard and walter sharp were hunting and rabbit was shot, as huck proceeded to pick up the rabbit and ol jackson had another ideal. Steve kicked the living crap out of him , well kinda made me mad but know what? Problem was solved. I think it makes you mad and you want to but ya aint my advice is boot him like a charlie brown field goal.Of course someone will say i am way to mean but ya know what as long as i raise ya and train ya .I am gonna enjoy hunting ya .

i might be better off number 6'ng him with TT. that way he thinks the rabbit did it? if i abuse him he might get scared of me. but i doubt it cause he aint skiddish in no way.

something will go down this weekend. I'll try the TT first with a good old Dead Rabbit command. I would like to yard train him but I have little time these days. so i'll have to train while out rabbit whacking.

One of the other members that said get there first. First and formost I have a freind that has a team of sled dogs and YOU HAVE TO BE THE ALFA MALE OF THE PACK.I know to some folks that sounds funny but to true huondsmen they know exactly what I am saying. Keith.

Well Joey if becomes to much for ya i will take that good lookin male right off yours just put bus to northern Indiana anytime. ha ha. But seriously the other guys r right u have to make him understand your boss thats your rabnbit an if u have to smack him to make understand so b it. he'll soon leave a dead rabbit alone if u get his attention a couple of times.

A yardstick dog can be a good thing for your kennel. If you know what you want and have seen it then you know its possible to get it again. But you have to be willing to cull, I think this is your biggest problem.
However I like it when my dogs want to eat the rabbit. Run to catch. Isn't that the idea. I don't let them do it though. They know its mine and that is the command word I use "MINE", they know who the boss is. Before you ruin him with "TT" send him to me. I'll give him a home.

I Have to Agree here WHY would you wanna make him think the Rabbit GOT HIM Seems like that would deter him from Runnin em if HE KNOWS he is gonna get Zapped when he catches up to it.......Be the ALPHA Get to the Rabbit BEFORE he Does Put yer Foot on it and as soon as he grabs ahold of it Say MINE if he Wont let go then put the boot Someplace Else!!!!

I Have one dog that Will not Bother a dead Rabbit but now buddy if its Wounded its hers!!!! If i dont get there Quick She will eat it!!!!But she will bring me the Dead one from the thick stuff if i tell her Go get it.....
Agfain I would NOT hit it with the TT just get to the rabbit let it grab it then TAKE CONTROL!!!

i had asked earlier is i should use the TT on him. Now i got some response out of it. I am understanding a big giant NO on using TT. Tc thats a great idea on steping on the rabbit if he goes to pick it up beat him away from it.
