Here, Are season here in Michigan started yesterday (Sept 15) We took 4 dogs out yesterday for a quick run in the early am, they ran 2 we shot 2 :), 1st Rabbit was runnin for over an hr before we got a shot, 2 nd rabbit ran 15 mins and we shot it on the 2nd circle, felt good to see the dogs get the reward of the rabbit, I know they are still wormy but it was worth the waste of 2 for the dogs.... :D

I love to drop a couple in front of young dogs as soon as you can or early on in the season even for a seasoned dog. I love to run but there's just something different when the guns start going off again.

Not until Nov. 20 here in NC. When rabbit season rolls around, muzzloader season is open then gun until Jan 1. Caint run at a lot of the places up here because of the deer hunters. I have a little honey hole i always take my 2 kids on opening day that i dont have to worry about the dogs or kids getting shot. Caint wait to cut em loose with shotgun in hand...... i think the dogs know when they see you coming in hunter orange and totting a gun that it is time to get-r-done. Happy hunting to all and let the good times roll.

The more people I meet, the more I love my dogs!

November 5th in Ohio, My 10 year old son will be shooting for the first time this year and I will get to take opening day off for the first time in 2 years. I look forward to it but wish I had a full pack, trying to build back up and still lacking a good jump dog. Already told my family that this year I will be hunting every Saturday morning :hammer: rain, snow or sun. Hoping to get out to Missourri this fall to visit my grandparents and hunt out there too.

It is nice to be able to start gunning so early in the season but I'll admit I don't usually shoot that many until the colder weather gets here. But at least we can if we want to. ;)

I just put some fresh venison in the freezer on our early doe hunt, but rabbit meat is my favorite.actually i think fried rabbit is my favorite food to eat.I wish we had the numbers of rabbits you guys have, then i would probably be shootin.I will be starting my gunning in December.snowshoe hare will be on the menu first.good luck! From your pre -season running vids, your hounds are ready!

We still have just over another month to wait here in PA. I don't expect my pup to be doing much in the way of being productive by then, and both my boys are still too young to hunt the general small game season (we have a Mentored Youth Program in PA, but the kids aren't allowed to hunt bunnies  ). So I'll probably be taking the Springer out after pheasant and grouse.

Now late season, at the end of December, may be another story...
