Where my gun-hunters at???? Official check in Thread

Post by Joeyman »

15 days till Gun-Season starts here In missouri.

Lets hear it. Who is doing what this season. Give us the scoop.

As for me. I've got a couple new dogs that will be joining me and the gang this season. We'll see how they perform as it will be their first ever gun-season. Also joining me will be the original gang of beagles that has traveled north south east and west all over these missouri hi-ways to put them bunnies on the move!!!!

I'm going to keep looking for new places to hunt. Try a few area's that I've never hunted before. Also I'd like to introduce a few new people to rabbit hunting and I've got a couple youth rabbit hunts in the works and I hope we get enough youths/help to make it happen.

Going to try and get more filming of my hunts with the help of my good friends, wouldn't happen with out them guys. Looking forward to many hunts with them this season. I promise it'll be an adventure.

So here's to all my gun-hunters out there waiting for opening day as I do every season. Keep that barrel hot let the lead fly and stack em high and be safe out there.

Chomping at the bit here Joey.Generally only shot a couple during the first part of the season just to tune up for when it gets cold.Just got back from running this morning and could have harvested a couple today had the season been in.Keep those videos coming as they are very entertaining. You sure have a talent for it.Planning on one of my grandsons to get hunting this year as he likes to go when we run.

Me and my son are ready to go. Been runnning the dogs 2-3 times a week right now. Season does not open here until November 13th. we have one young dog that will be his first season. The rest are returning from last season. I hope to do some videoing this year as well. My son shot his first rabbit last year and now he is hooked.

Michigan opened up today. I normally don't shoot any for a while. I donate a bunch to a wild game dinner that raises money for the troops. We have an early doe season coming up tomorrow on private land until the 20th, then a youth season from the 21st til the 24th, then a youth and 100% disabled veterans from the 25th til the 26th, then bow season on Oct 1st. til Nov 14th, then firearm from Nov 15th til the 30th, then archery from Dec 1st til Jan 1st with muzzleloading thrown in there along the way. This means we'll be dodging deer hunters for quite awhile.

Joey, I'm trying to make an SPO trial at North Central Ohio on Sept. 26th and a large pack on hare trial at Eastern U.P. on Oct. 3rd. I figure I will try a little bowhunting through the month of Oct. I generally don't shoot rabbits until we get our first good frost. My boy really wants to kill his first rabbit this season. He learned gun safety last season, I made him carry his single shot 410 around unloaded last season. He learned quickly and is chomping at the bit to hunt with me this year!

Hey guys, New york opens Oct 1, gona be goin snowshoe hare hunting along canadian border , this time of year the runs are great and no holes!!!! Can not waite, should be leving on thurs eve, and returning on sunday, hopefully get some video or pics. We do not shoot many ,but a run could last upto 3 hours or more of non stop pounding. Then on november 1st, cottontail opens up on long island, will be there too, less than an hour drive and could run upto 20 rabbits aday,if would push hard. Either way can not waite, and have safe season!!!!!

I am just looking foward to the weather change!! I am not a huge gun hunter but I kill several for the young dogs yearly. I just don't have the places to kill the amount of rabbits that some of you boys do without feeling that I am damaging my running grounds. I may cuss the young rabbits but darn happy to see them!!! If I had more places I would prob. gun hunt a little more but man am I looking ahead to cooler temps and good running if someone lets me borrow a dog lol
