Not sure how pkc hunts are run but why was the judge standing and talking with yall instead of following and judgeing the dogs. Just thought I would ask. Thanks Mitch

the dogs went into the corn. not much you can do but wait for them to come back out of it. when they do, handlers and judge find the line then you score again what dog comes out in what order and you get points. also if your dog strikes (jumps) a rabbit you call it. You say Strike Lightning and you are on the the clock if all dogs join within the 3minute time frame the dog that struck first got 100 points dog that struck second got 75 3rd dog to strike in gets 50 4th dog gets 25 but YOU as the handler need to yell out your dogs name when your dog strikes. Handlers are involved you have to know your dog well know your dogs bark and trust it when it first opens cause if it don't produce in that 3min you're in the hole 100 points. thats how I understood it thats how we were judging. This was my first time so.....

if you watch the video you will see we want to wait for when rabbit and dogs cross a cut so we can score the dogs coming acrossed it. When dogs are in a check dog that claims check gets no points. their is a 3minute rule on the check if they have a break down longer than 3minutes you handle the dogs.

I'm sure other PKC guys could chime in on more details. or you can refer to the rule's on how PKC works by going to prohound.com Hope that helps. I'm no expert just only went this one time so far. I'm not much of a field trialer guy just went to support the local club and have some fun watching other dogs run for a change. Give me something to do. Hope I didn't miswrite how it works If I did someone please correct me.

Wow! So what if the fasted dog is blowing up the race by over-running, and another dog keeps snapping back and grabbing the line? Do we just pray the fast dog hangs himself? I love to give merrit for driving a rabbit, but I also feel checking ability is equally important.

I have come to find out a fast dog want mess a smart dog pounding that rabbit up i have seen a fast dog mess up and the 2nd hound constantly never miss where the rabbit went if the dog hadnt been focused there would have been a check but the only ck made was the dog that over run and he finds him/herself gettin back in the race

Kevin puts on a nice hunt as always. I've been there for the LP trials a few times in the past. I missed the last PKC trial he hosted a few months ago so I thought I'd give this one a try. Had a great time as always.... everyone including Kevin are good people more than happy to run dogs with them guys any time. The one cast I went on he brought a dog named daisy I thought she done an excellent job entire cast she was very good. Nice hound she won the cast. The other dog I brought that I entered got second in that cast.

thanks chad. Kevin even went out of his way and mowed several paths at two different locations. rabbits at both locations no shortage of rabbits. Gonna be another in 3wks gotta keep my dogs running hard see what happens.

how in the world do you not credit the dog that gets the check??the drive dog is great,but the check dog keeps the race going...i dont understand.....but congrats joeyman,whatever the format,if they judge em all the same,its even,and you did good!!
