Looks like they might be using the trial as an excuse to ride horses! LOL!

There Traditional Brace dogs, so what let the old men be. Maybe when we are all in our 70's and 80's we won't want to chase windsplitters anymore either. To each is there own but making fun them isn't cool Matt.

Not making fun....just never saw a pack like that before.....The video really put brace beagling into perspective for me......I still say WOW???? If that is what you like that is fine by me. I just wanted to share the video and I knew if I put "unbelievable speed" as a subject people would look.

Back in the late 50s i went to a local club that had dogs exactly like that which included more elderly men than younger. Looking back over the years i could see that those ol timers could still participate walking slowly along beside there dogs. IT may have been the wrong thing for the breed but at least they could still participate. If i didnt have tri tronics i dont think i could go with the dogs i have currently. There was few younger fellows attending the hunts at that club for durn sure it was not real exciting lol. I dont blame anyone for laughing but slowin down comes on ya pretty fast. Thank goodness for e collars. O they would also hit the bushes with them sticks. Yes i sometime think they did that to the breed so they could keep on runnin.

I wouldn't describe their style as "run to catch."

The part you all are overlooking is that if you have AKC dogs in your dogs pedigree that were champions that is how they ran. If you have AKC dogs that is what is in their blood and on the further back pedigrees. Bred too many of them and traveled far to get it done.

Usually only two at a time called a brace, but, on occasion a pack trial like shown on this video. They pick up the fast ones pretty quick.

It proves the point that how a dog is physically built doesn't dictate its tracking speed, neither does its nose, its the breeding that counts. Some of those dogs could really fly after a ball ro following you down a road.

I bet the one that stopped and kept opening won! It was the one RUNNING the closest.

I ws hoping it would show the move when the one in front is slower than one in back and the one in back goes through its back legs and lifts the one in front off the ground.
That's track running.

John, The first time I saw this video....you were the one that popped in my mind. I remember our past posts about the great dogs of the past and what you said.

They're probably running the dog in front of them. Had one in my back yard for a couple of weeks once. He would bark on a track of one of my other dogs and when he got to an obstacle like a bush or the fence, he would turn around and bark on his own track back. Painful to watch.

If any of you ever see me running a brace dog just get your gun and shoot me because you know I have lost my mind even if I am 90 yrs old. I personally can't stand to watch them. I just get the awfullest urge to run up and kick them in the ass.

I don't agree that all AKC dogs were brace trial dogs although they were big years ago. Thank god for the breeders that didn't buy into it and kept breeding a hard driving hound.
