Steve...I started this post because it was news of the day which I thought was encouraging news. Argumentation was not my intent. A discussion among equals is not an argument. An argument is a pooling of ignorance without fact base.
CC: I will no longer discuss "God in Heaven". This is a dead end. There simply are too many pros and cons from the bible that can be used to refute either opinion on this issue.
I would still be interested in Hogbody's thinking about the name change.

You don't have to believe what the liberals say, the BIBLE does not contradict itself!!
I have 7 friends (male and female) that all want to have the same rights as "married" people and file our taxes jointly and we ALL want to go on one of our friends health insurance policy that he get's from his employer. It's the cheapest plan with the best benefits and we would only have to pay one premium. The problem is that we aren't all married to each other and so the discrimination is unbelievable. We should be allowed to get "married" so do we have to have sex with each other to be eligible for marriage? Do we have to declare publicly that is how we live and thus become a "minority" to claim discrimination and unfairness?
If we do, can we then get this kind of response.

Why do we need marriage?
Those who think "marriage" in a legal sense should include gays, give your definition of "marriage". Then explain to me why in a legal sense, my 7 friends and I are "not" being discriminated against in your definition.
I also want to know how it is not discrimination for me not to be able to go into a public restroom marked "Women". If a gay guy goes into a mens restroom isn't he being allowed a freedom I am being denied?
Come on RC, why does one have to be a liberal to believe in the contradictions of the bible? That is like saying one would have to be a conservative to believe in the 2nd. amendment.
I can think of a couple obvious examples of contradictions: Matthew 28:3-8 vs. Acts 1:18 dealing with Judas death and what happened to the money he was given to betray Christ. Matthew and Luke even disagree on the genealogy of Jesus.

No it would not be alright with me to call it a "gay union" That's basicaly the same as a marriage. After I reread my statement about the legal contracts, I realized that gays as well as all of us share these same rights. For example, a piece of real estate can be jointly owned by any two people or persons with right of survivorship. This means that if one of the persons in the contract dies the others takes sole ownership. This is all I was refering to.
It seems from some of your other comments that you want to throw the Bible and God's word out of this discussion and contradict the Bible. You seem like a nice guy who just enjoys a little debate. But I'm curious. What exactly do you believe about God and the Bible? I think you know where I stand. Oh and by the way it's Matthew Chapter 27

Hogbody: Sorry for the misinterpretation. I've covered my religious thinking with Mr. Collins. If you leave the Bible in the equation, we become too similar to the hated Muslims who live by the literal word of God. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong (I probably am) but God has written nothing and professed no religion. What we have are interpretations of his (or her) thinking brought down by men. Even Jesus was a man until his death when he truly became God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Since I seem to be the only one that feels Gay Freedom is a good thing for the country (just as women's right to vote, emancipation, civil rights, etc) and since this was my post, I would like to officially close this thread. I am too old and it is too exhausting on me to continue further.

The Bible says that, and I am paraphrasing here, "In the beginning the Word was with God and the Word was God"...Christ being called the Word...now, if he was with God in the beginning, and he WAS God in the beginning, how then can you say he ONLY became God after his death??? By the way, it wasnt his death that was the miracle, it was his resurrection.
Point two...they do NOT disagree on the genealogy of Christ...one gives the history from his MOTHERS side, one from his Fathers side...his earthly father that is. One proving his lineage from King David, the other to prove he was a Jew.
The 1st amendment allows the usual liberal narcissistic "I think.." which is how they start all their sentences.

Rufus you definately need to step back and get out of liberal thinking and look at things for yourself for a change. ombamanation is not the massiah! neither are nancy palosi or harry reid!
But believe it or not, I do aggree with you on the part about the gays! When it comes to the Bible I believe it from front to back. But many in modern time have tried to change it, hence the liberals, to suit theirselves. I still read, teach, and preach the King James. I have stuck with it while many of my brethren have switched around to every new version that comes out. I even know some that quote from 6-8 different bibles so if one dont say what they want it to then another one will. jmho
By the way, there are Liberals in politics as well as religion.
