your greatest achievement as a beagler is?

Post by Casey Harner »

Mine would be being honest with myself and others. Also being able to meet new friends and developing friendships with them.

Realizing what I like in a hound and trying to accept nothing less than that. That may not seem like much to some but in the past I spent a lot of time chasing hounds that I had because of their "bloodline" before finally realizing they weren't what I was looking for. I still haven't figured out why it took me so long to figure out what I like in a hound but I am extremely happy I finally did..........it gives me a direction to go in.

I would have to say my biggest achievment im proud of is teaching myself how to train and run a rabbit dog without any previous knowledge. I know alot of guys on here have grown up around beagles or another type of hunting dog but i wasnt that lucky . I still have alot to learn since i have only been in this sport for about 6 or 7 years but i have come along way and im proud of myself for sticking with the good and bads of this great hobby/sport.

I have to agree with Tim, My kids never liked or did much with dogs untill they heard a beagle run. the best thing in the world is hearing my 8 year old daughter say "can we run the dogs with you this evening"? That is the best, passing along the passion of dog music, and family time.

I would say it was getting my stepson hooked on rabbit hunting! As a stepfather it has been hard to connect with my stepson and stepdaughter because your not their dad so they see me as the enemy but through rabbit hunting and fishing I have won the respect and trust of him. Now he is my hunting and fishing buddy! Well for now since he's only 11 but when he gets older and into girls I'm sure they will take up most of his free time! Lol! I just wish I could get that kind of a relationship with my 13 year stepdaughter!

My dogs have won some ribbons and trophies in the past, but nothing spectacular. I'd have to say my own personal achievement as a beagler was the opportunity to help new people get into the sport and the magazine. What a learning experience that was, and the friendships and people I would never have known without the magazine and this board. It was life-changing. I'm thankful every day for that. I can't imagine how closed off my life would be right now if I'd never had it.

For the Love of my Dad who every weekend when rabbit season was in would take us hunting and showed me and my brother how to hunt with beagle and be safe ,and for my daughters Paige and Chelsie for getting me back in to beagles so that as of now I have figured out that the big race horse hounds are not for me
