Yeast infection in and on ears

Post by Bobby Vest »

What is good for a yeast infection in a dogs ears and on the inner flaps of their ears. He has the scabbed over sores a little bigger than a cigarette burn. I had some medecine from the vet I think it was steroid of some type and it is extremely expensive.

I tried the sulfadene a couple weeks ago and it irritated it, I don't think any of the anti fungals will work it's definitely a yeast infection, and what do ladies use? Blue kote doesn't work either or clorox doesn't work.
I have tried all of these on his ear flaps and none of tham work.

Bobby, I had one that I took to the vet for this problem, the only thing he done was flush them out with a vineagar/water mix.

I'm going to use some white vinegar mix and try it. I have always used alcohol and peroxide 50-50 and it has helped but not healed it yet. Thanks a lot.

Half apple cider vinegar or white vinegar and half alcohol and add a bottle of Iodine to turn it pink. All at grocery store.

Cures the ear and head of infections, soak scabby head and ears with it and put it inside ear while at it to rid dog of ear mites too just in case. I wait a little while and rub the scabby places with a soaked in the stuff rag and they come off easily leaving a red sore looking place then wet the places again with it. Put in dog box and let dry. Don't turn the dog loose until your finished or they will rub it off before its done.

Old, old remedy that works!

Well I don't think I have ever been through such an ordeal with several different dogs. I'm talking about several months, maybe 5 0r 6 to try to cure this mess. I think I am finally whipping the stuff. There hasn't been any one thing that has worked by itself though. I started with the monistat and it helped but wouldn't kill it. I went to town and got alcohol, white vinegar and iodone and mixed it up and used it like John said. I also went to the vet and picked up some penicillin and gave him a shot. I looked today and it looks like it is going to heal up and regrow hair. I doctored one dog for at least 3 mo. in a row and never got any better before trying this. Laura I ask Patty about those products and she said she didn't know that she just dusts. Thanks a lot guys I really appreciate the help and maybe it will save someone else from going through all the mess I've had to and maybe their dog won't have to go through it.

The only thing that has worked for me is 68mg of Bayatril for 10 days. A lot easier than scrapping scabs and trying to get meds where you need it, and trying to hold the dog still.
