Extending unemployeement benifits???

I have only drawn one Unemployment check and that was in 1998 when the company I worked for closed it's doors. My current boss has been drawing one for a year now so he can pay the three employee's he has working for him(me included).If it wasn't for that we would be drawing one and that wouldn't keep my house payment paid. This thing isn't near over and quite frankly I don't know what people expect to happen. Most places won't hire anyone that don't have a high school education, don't want to pay enough for an american to live on. If I can't make enough to live on, why work. The biggest threat to the security of this nation is our very government and the way it handles everything. The way they handle illegal aliens is a prime example of the failing of our nation. THEY ARE ILLEGAL. This country is no longer young, big and empty. We are full and better protect ourselves or we will be under someone elses rule.

I think we should help the ones that truly need the help.There are many in many areas hurting and they need our help.

Having said that there are many that have abused the system ever since it was started.Work in the spring - summer collect benefits all fall / winter aka enjoying hunting season or whatever they enjoy doing.Lets be honest you'll have seen it for years just like I have.I've heard and seen the same stories mentioned here aka why should I get a job before the benefits run out making a $100 more per week ? Same for people on welfare and food stamps,earned income credit freebies and and and and.Politicians along with a lot of dim witted parents raising kids have killed the work ethic in many with their "Vote Buying Programs and parenting skills".I too bought a scotter as a wee lad.I worked killing red ant beds and in the hay fields of South Texas for $4.00 a Day ! That was after I did my chores on the ranch my Dad had.Simply put I was raised like Billy Coleman in Where the Red Fern Grows. - Working hard for what I wanted.

The problem is two fold imo and I fear irreversible if things do not change.Vote buying politicians have been at it for years.Welfare,food stamps,wick,free school lunches,earned income credit checks up to $6000 or so if you had kids you could never afford in the first place have become a life long affair.Aka wished to dump on the rest of us that actually have paid taxes our entire working lives.I know families that live in $180,000 houses or rent really nice houses that get all of the above.What is up with that ?

Latest stats say that d near 50% pay no taxes at all ! Again what is up with that load of crap ? Most of them also get some if not all of the above.Since when did having a house like your parents worked 20 years before buying become an "entitlement" for the younger folks in the last 15 years ? Keep eating the dropped corn and it will lead all of us into bondage.

Second was nafta.It destroyed the manufacturing base and all the jobs it created in this country.Nothing wrong with a fair - level playing field as per wages and treating your workers fairly.Hard to compete against slave - child labor in other parts of the world price wise.

I am not optimistic as per the future of this once great country.Far and away to many Americans have the "I want it - I'm entitled to it Right Now Mind Set.They do not want to WORK HARD AND SAVE to earn it as their parents did.Theywant their toys and two - three kids and they want a check at tax time and or all the other free stuff if need be to have it all !

All of the above can be laid at the feet of the vote buying scum politicians and the politicians that sold their souls and our asses up a river for big corporations that wanted slave labor abroad.People there are no free lunches.Someone has to pay.H they cannot even seal the border because they see each one that crosses and later gets amnesty is well like a "Vote".Try walking across china's border and see what happens.The exact same harsh treatment should happen on our borders.

A thought or two about P'ing in a cup.I've done it to get a job.No problem.Many - most do now.I know local people that work for companies / cities that if human resources calls you on the job you have an hour or so to go to a testing facility and you guessed it whizz in a cup ! Now just why is that ok for people that work and pay taxes but the same is not ok for all those on the tax payer's dime ?

America is rotting from within because so many have eaten the supposedly "free" dropped vote buying bait.If it continues it will enslave all of us.No I am not optimistic about the future of this once great country.

Hunt6 I think you have hit on something a lot of people don't even realize, and that is that this country is at a tipping point where almost as many people are living on the tax payer as people who are paying taxes. I don't begrudge laid off workers recieving compensation but there is a limit to everything. Unemployment benefits are not the problem here its the waste and abuse by a lot of people and the government that is the problem, all of these entitlement programs have bred multi-generations of system abusers. I said this 15 years ago and I still believe it, with the exception of taking care of the elderly, handicapped and disabled, everyone else should be on unemployment for a set period and then it ends, period. Imagine no welfare, food stamps, or tax payer help except for the really deserving. We wouldn't have all of this immigration issues because the jobs would be done by people on the tax payers shoulders now. Responsibility, accountability, more is lost with every new generation.
WE THE PEOPLE need a government that has this countries best interest at the top of their priority list instead of the best interest of the world.

We've been here too long and seen too many ripoffs sold to us to be one thing "set in stone" that after a while is changed and not the same as was sold us anymore.

Our Social Security CONTRIBUTION was supposed to be put aside for you in your account to use what part of it you received before you died and left the remainder to be used for others. The government always shows what you put in only and what you will get back if you live the average age til death. That shows you getting more than you paid in. They sure don't use any compound interest as that blows their charts.
Believe me they are getting compound interest on YOUR CONTRIBUTION.

Count what we had taken out of our pay for social security and use simple compound interest to see how much you would have in how many years you workrd or will work until 65-70 (the years allowed to retire are going up now) if you saved it yourself and when you died what was left would of gone to your family instead of the Government.
The shorter you live, the more the government gets as it keep all but what it pays to you if anything and many die without receiving a dime but none outlive what their money accumulated to.

Same with unemployment INSURANCE. Look how many pay in each week and how many take out and see how little is ever taken out. By far most is never used.

It's just not right. Maybe the next generation will stop this, I hope so!

Well just did 780 square bales and 67 round bales, been after it since ummmm 830am, 95 degrees. My Crew consisted of myself, 73 yr old man that has had a stroke driving the tractor and 50year old buddie that works about 60 hours weekly. And a nieghboring mexican and his 14 year old son. Plenty of help. We got er dun. The end. Funny hard work and never killed me yet granted it may but not yet. I was always taught this life lesson crap aint fair period if ya want anything ya better go make it happen dont wait for nobody As the famous Nike Commercial says~~~~~~~~~~~~Just Do It. Pretty sound words of advice for this ol country boy. If i gotta peel potatoes to make ends meet i aint too proud, I have done probaly off and on 3 years in Jail over the last 47 years all when i was younger of course so belive me i aint too proud to do what it takes too feed my family , guess i was lucky had a eye for making it , unfortunatly had a eye for spending it. Paid my dues .And yes i pray for everyone every night even people i really dont like but my knees aint too proud to bend. Thats another lesson i have learned in life.Respect everyone and depend on none of em. Did a year straight once never seen any of my so called Friends, I sure coulda used a buck on my books but i made it. Figured out how to make it though, left the correctional hell with a grand on my books , i left it too 3 differnt friends i made while there. We gotta have money but i aint never made it my 1 priority. Could we assume this could have started as long ago as when they took prayer out of the school, and maybe teaching Bible as a class. I see this thread has exhausted lazy people, immigration, NAPA, democrats, republicans, Rome, prayer in school, and now we are having bible lessons (nothing wrong with that), but "cause and effect" is very complicated. If a man is drowning, give him all the rope you can and then worry about draining the lake. The last time I checked the Army is not turning away any qualified applicants. While on unemployment, go get in shape for 6 weeks and show up at a local recruiting station and they will put you to work.

In northern MI, it looks to me like 1 out of 3 people are on some form of disability. Im guessing we are the most disabled country in the world.

Socialism is just around the corner. Most will condemn socialism, but elect a socialist president. It wont be long until communism takes over that people will start standing up and fighting, even at the cost of their life. Communism is devestating because it follows socialism when everyone is depending on the government and they milk themselves dry and then just abruptly stop paying out.

People could live on $309 a week if they didnt put themselves in debt for everything they WANT. People go head over heels in debt, then its the governments responsibility when you cant pay.

Who on here believes they need a $275,000 house, a $40,000 new truck, a four wheeler, a travel trailer........Im not against people owning these things if they can pay for them, but pay for them does not mean the bank will loan you the money......we all know now the banks made some poor lending decitions..............if people lived within their means, when times got tough they would need enough to pay a modest house note, utilities, and food bill. $309 a week would cover that. It wont cover credit card payments, $1,500 house note, auto loans, recreational equipment loans. Some have said they worked all their lives for what they have and now they are loosing it all. Problem is, they never paid for anything. They were just in the process of paying for it.......If it was paid for you wouldnt be loosing it.

And now for the rest of the story. You can ask most people that have came from other countries to the USA for a better life and they will tell you that americans are some of the lazyiest people on the planet. I talked to a contractor a few years ago about why he hird people south of the boarder over americans. His answer was, Just last week i caught two guy's (americans) asleep, they had crawled up in the duc work and were fast alseep. So i went out and hired me some people that wanted to work. I think their was a post on here a few weeks ago about young people and how they don't wont to do any thing around home and most everyone one was in agreement on that one. Americans are getting so over weight they can't work. Most people that have a job start gripeing about their co-worker that has a better job or makes more money than they do. We complain about the weather, we complain about food prices, gas prices, the government, regardless of who is in office. We as americans are impatient about every thing. we want every thing now. We continually play the blame game. You can look at extended benifit's like this, If people completly run out of money, do you think their going to stand around and starve to death ? No they will be breaking in stores rioting and coming after you that have a job, because you represent something that they don't have.
