2 things worth noting, God walks into a bar there sits 3 guys 1 from ohio 1 from miss and 1 from ky. Gods walks around surveying and begins to ask each whats wrong? Guy from ohio speaks up my backs hurting god touches him and bam he is forever cured, Guy from miss steps up and says my arms broken and sure enuff that touch bam he is also cured, after a short pause the guy from ky steps back and exclaims hey man dont touch me i draw a check. Its only a joke but theres alot of truth to it. Boys this saturday in the valley i will have 1500-2000 bales a laying, i pay good and all the beverage ya need or want is there.

My second point is what the heck is a czar anyway?

I worked 35 years and never drew one unemployment check. I was lucky. This said, there are many people who do not abuse the system. Give em' a break. Unemployment money goes right back into the system in the form of purchases for food, house payments, car payments, dog food, etc. In Michigan, the jobs that have been lost will never be back. Go ahead, try living on unemployment and maintaining your family and dogs.

Many of you with jobs have extra money. Why not contribute a bit of that to help the unemployed. There are many charitable organizations in your church, legion, outreach, Goodwill or just about anywhere you look. So many complain because of immigration, politics, abuse and cry that everything is unfair. Here is a news break: Fairness has little to do with it. If it was fair, we would all have good dogs and lots of money but we don't. For the religious among you, the bible suggests that we help the "least" among us. Try it, there may be a reward for all involved.

Costs are Truly Shared by Federal and State Government
Operating as a federal-state partnership, UC is based on federal law, but administered by the states. The UC program is unique among U.S. social insurance programs in that it is funded almost totally by either federal or state taxes paid by employers.

Currently, employers pay federal unemployment taxes of 6.2 percent on the first $7,000 earned by each of their employees during a calendar year.employer pays minmum of 434 a year per employee These federal taxes are used to cover the costs of administering the UC programs in all states. In addition, the federal UC taxes pay one-half of the cost of extended unemployment benefits (during periods of high unemployment) and provide for a fund from which states may borrow, if necessary, to pay benefits.

State UC tax rates vary from state-to-state. State UC taxes may be used only to pay benefits to unemployed workers. The state UC tax rate paid by employers is based on the state's current unemployment rate. As their unemployment rates go up, the states are required by federal law to raise the UC tax rate paid by employers.

as you can see from this page-# Employee withholding is .09% (90 cents per $1,000 gross wages). This is uniform to all employees and is not subject to appeal. There is no cap on the gross wages for which employee withholding is calculated.

good news--the futa tax means i will pay more---sheesh

I have no issues with folks on unemployment that need it....here's my issue. A young guy that got laid off from where I work back in Sept. 09' still isn't working, he doesn't apply for any job that he might actually get...an inexperienced 20 yr old isn't going to pull down a manager's job in a manufacturing facility making $60k+ a yr up here.....his attitude is why should I go to work 40 hrs a week for the extra $100 a week he can make :bash:

Folks that can't get a job but are trying have my support, others that are milking the system do not. :mad2:

I have had a job since I was 14 years old and most of it has been outdoors year round. I have sweated, froze, bled, broke bones, worked when others were playing. I have had to adjust and learn new skills and take new risks as times have changed but I have nothing to show for it financially. No savings...wiped out by risking it all on a failed business. House thats worth less than what I owe. All that to say, I wouldn't trade it for the life of a sorry a$$ welfare bum. I really feel for those out of jobs and who are willing to work, I have close friends that are not slackers who are having a tough time finding work. But WHEN does it stop guys? What happens when the gov cannot borrow anymore? There is a time for that to happen and it could be very soon. So then we will ALL be in the same sinking boat, sorta spread the wealth around huh. Vote em ALL out. Clean house and send in plumbers, doctors, mechanics, farmers and fishermen. How could they possibly be worse than what we have now.

Duke wrote:I am fully employed as a Fire Fighter currently. I decided I wanted to get a part time job 3 weeks ago, went out put in an application to Bass Pro Shops (love the discount) Yep, Im now working at Bass Pro Shops part time. My girlfriend from florida moved up here in April and by May was working making 32g a year and she only has a GED.

I go to my local pub for a beer, the same 3 guys who are in there every time I stop in who are layed off. I tell them about my new job and that they are hiring. One of them flat out told me Im not going back to work until the unemployment runs out. I know at least two of them are also working under the table, one in plumbing and the other interesting enough is a electrician. HMMMMMMMM.

I dont mean to beat someone who is down, but here is the deal when I wanted to be a Fire Fighter I took every test I could over the entire US. I kept taking them till I got the job, I would have moved anywhere to get the job. Guess what if they shut down unemployment just see how quickly you will see people find work. It will happen. Jobs exist. You may have to move, you may have to start at the bottom.

And you know how bad some people want jobs?????? They climb fences, swim rivers, go through tunnels they leave there families and go to other countries to FIND JOBS. And YEP they are finding them. And they are making a living not only for themselves but sending money back to their families back home.

I dont like illegal immigration, wish they would shut the border, but with the work ethic we have in this country, LOL, I really wonder who is going to do the work. 2years on unemployment...... RIDICULOUS GUYS.....simply RIDICULOUS!!!!!!! :bash:

Oh and last time I looked the President has not been George W for almost 2 years. I dont see any of that great HOPE AND CHANGE promised, except that maybe we are learning to become lapdogs to the government dole. We are becoming weak and we are sitting back as politicians steal our souls.

If I remember my history this country was created by men and women jumping in boats traveling for months over dangerous seas facing scurvy and desease to be dropped of in a wild land with no jobs, no houses, a sometimes hostile indigenous and YEP hard to believe NO UNEMPLOYEMENT CHECKS!!!!!
What he said

I have know problem with a guy drawing unemployment I have drawn it before when was laid off.Luckly I got a new job before it ran out Trust me it is easier to get a new job while you are working then when you a laid off I dont know why but it is, and you cant exspect a guy to take less money to work then he makes on unemployment how would he pay his bills
HE HAD TO BE A WORKING MAN JUST TO DRAW UNEMPLOYMENT
Now welfare is where I have a problem people and familys draw it for GENIRATIONS
also I have to take a drug test to work so to draw unemployment or welfare you should have to drug test also BUT I believe drug tests unless you are showing signs of being high on the job are BS this is America and people are getting to complacent with Big companys and government doing what they want when they want to do it ,cant smoke in a bar, seatbelts, helments, are just a few things I should have a right to choose if it doesnt hurt another person then leave me alone

I think everyone would eat some humble pie and learn a great deal if they went back and studied history and financial cycles of the past. This is a big one!

The excess we've lived on created demand, growth, expansion and inflation. Now, the realism that we've been allowed to blow our own unsustainable bubble, has caused an over-contraction to the "real" financial model of what finance will support, as time passes, we will strike the balance again. What makes things harder is those who will seek to profit from the shock waves as we try to strike that balance again.

If your on the Government dole, don't think the ceiling is not coming down, local/State and Fed are going broke. 34 years ago, I was warned about living under the "umbrella", and how a false sense of reality could infect one's thinking and judgment.

Jimmy,
Surprised you not in the round bale business yet. Not good hay drying weather we been having round here, second cutting not far off tho...
Good luck you getting it to the barn....
When I was little, I drove the tractor and rolled bales to the throwers, then, I got big enough to stack on the wagon but not big enough to throw upon the bed, that was a bad time because I was little enough to fit in the loft when stacking to the barn roof and that was a HOT hole to be in. It was nice to get big enough to throw the hay cause you got to be out in the air and not in the choking dust filled loft. Those were good times at that age, we were stout and wiry and you made friends of the BIG boys and nobody picked on you when you went back to school cause tossing a bully was not that much different than tossing a bale. The friendship and hard work all went hand-in-hand and the $10 a day bought my first motor scooter so I could expand my skill of tossing hay...
Thanks for bring back the good memories...
