You can use either the orange or purple. I use the orange. 25 tags for $18.00. I use a paper hole punch and a zip tie.

I had a dog ( one year old 15" male) eat one with no side effects.

They are not the same exact thing. Also the orange ones also have a sweet odor smell to them while the purple ones are nearly odorfree --- something to think about if other hounds attracted to each other's tags.

Python (Purple Tags) MSDS - http://www.y-tex.com/pdfs/msds/MSDS%20PYthon%20tag.PDF
GardStar (Orange Tags) MSDS - http://www.y-tex.com/pdfs/msds/MSDS%20G ... %20Tag.PDF

I over lap the tag and punch the male button through. I take a Dremel (or you can use a grinder) and file down the point on the male button till it's round and smooth. No glue to come unglued or tie straps to break.

I put purple pythons on in April and none of them worked for ticks. I know people that swear by them.

I have had luck with no ticks and no flies.............Use to have an old lab that would get up year after year on his ears with flies even with fly traps filling up in pen....No more being eaten up. Can't remember the last time I have picked a tick off the dogs.

Some say they have no fleas using them but I haven't the tags do anything for fleas.

they help, but aren't perfect, the dog should still be checked when done running for ticks,as well as any other possibilities, like deep thorns etc.

for those who think they are"dangerous"-----do ya really think they would let ya just walk in and buy them if they were seriously harmful? they are feeding you the beef
i tried the orange gardstars ones--they didnt work at all.
today my male had 2ticks,his tag is probably 6 weeks old---my female had no tag and she had about 14 ticks.they ran together so there is proof to me that they help

I have been using the cattle tags for a few years orange and purple.
I still find ticks on my dogs after running, but the next day the ticks
are usually dead. Even using products like frontline the tick has to bite
the dog before it dies.
