I would say no its not to hot to run we run in any conditions but try to make sure its early morning or late evening that way you dont take the chance of hurting your dogs. This heat is also excellent for conditioning a dog so when the tempature drops your dog will run all day and barely breath hard. Good luck and keep running them

senting has been poor for us
its really dry. the yards and hay fields are about burnt up.
my older cold nose dog can work one up but the pups are haveing a rough go.
i may wait till we get a nice rain befor i run again. and just work on some e-collar training .
i got a couple heard heads coming up.
maybe put the pups on the bunnys in the back yard.

Is there a creek or pond where you run? To me, this is the key. Dogs can stand an amazing amount of heat if they are built up to it, and there is water for them to get into. Drinking out of a bowl at the back of the truck doesn't help.

If you want to run in the heat, find a creek with cover on both sides, a swamp that dogs constantly cross, or a pond surrounded by cover. Dogs quickly learn to dive in the creek on the way across, or hit the water holes in a swamp, or drop down into the pond and then continue the race. As long as dogs can get into water, their body quickly cools and good summer running is possible.

We have had some hot days here in south Arkansas. I or any of my friends do not run our dogs if it is over 75 degrees. I have seen a dog almost die from heat on a cast. We run at daylight when it is cool enough around 70 or so then catch them as it warms up around 0900.

Went out at 7:30 this eve, 95 just came in 9:00 89, had one good race 0ne short race to a brush pile. took my three bitches ,left the males home.Have a pond on each side of the land i run in, it really helps. After the first race I made them follow me to the pond for water and a wade. Thats long enough in this heat.

Ive been runnin every day so far. This past week we had it in the high 80's low 90's but i run mostly at first or last light to try and get a cooler temp. Scenting has been tough, some days worse than others. In the heat I bring plenty of water for my pup and dont run him as long as I do when its cooler out. He seems to be doing well with it for the most part.

I have also been running mine , usually try and go about 5:30 in the morning and run to about 10:00 am and then packem up and come home but have stayed some days to around 2:00 pm during the middle of the day because of how well the running has been. Plenty of water where I am running so the dogs can cool easily, odd thing that I have noticed is that some of the best running I have had has been during the hottest part of the day. I have noticed alot of rabbits out stirring during this time, wouldn't think scenting conditions would be good when its hot but surprisingly my youngins have done a fairly good job.

It was 102 at the airport 50 miles south of us yesterday. A new record high for July 7th. I took 3 males out about an hour before sunset and ran them for a couple of hours. It has been so dry here the running was not very good, but they managed to stretch out a little. None of them protested when it was time to get in the box. I had a cooler and let them crunch some ice on the way home. I like running late afternoon and early evening, but we had some coyotes try to move in on two young males last Friday night. They howled and gathered then moved in and started yipping. Pete Tuck and I started yelling and toning and got the dogs back quick enough.

Thanks for asking Will. I have been running a nice young male that is heavy Chester with some T-rex. He has good foot with pretty good control. My female is a Chester daughter, she is a little bit nasty from time to time. I just added a 9 week old pup that is a good looking bluetick. He is heavy Chester on Top and T-Rex on the bottom. We really like the Chester stuff and plan to keep running and breeding them for a while. Most seem to have alot of desire.
