Sometimes your the windshield, sometimes...

Post by Norshore »

yer the bug. I'm pretty sure everyone heard the song, well I got to watch it play out this week pretty good. After last season I made some decisions, dead wood in the pack needed to go, fresh blood needed to be added, the bitches I had that I felt could move me forward would be bred. But most of all the dogs would be run at every chance I had from the time season went out till it came back in. Been right on schedule, culled hard coming out of the season, tagged a couple young hounds as questionable and they still may not make it till season. Added some new talent thanks to BradWV here on the board I'm likin the Boom Boom Pow. Made both crosses I've wanted and have some great pups and have a litter due soon, also have a pup later this summer from another cross that I can't wait to get say when TBB.And been to the field with my knuckle heads 4 days a week 4-5 hours a crack ambient temp be damned. And I've noticed the difference in the dogs.

Well I hope it will hold em for a while ya see Monday I was riding my motorcycle to work, sitting at a stop sign waiting to pull out. Seen a car coming from the north so turned to check out the south. Course thats when I heard it, we have all been around a while so I no ya heard it before, kind of noise a car thats just left the road makes, gravel flying and rubber squealing. Appears the young fella had fallen asleep at the wheel (first night working his new 3rd shift job). Not really enough micro seconds to due much but utter the F word. Well he nailed it right in the l/side, shattered my ankle and probably totaled my bike(ah what the heck it's only a year old).Funny part was when my wife got there (before the ambulance) she's all freaked out and the only thing I can complain about is how am I going to run my mutts with a broken leg.

Any way gonna be 8 weeks to the walking cast and the 4 weeks in that. Just spent the day in the hospital getting plates put in. 65 friggin jumps in the 82nd. and never bump go figure.I know it could of been worst and I guess we are thankful for what. I got behind on some PM's so if ya sent me one I will get back to ya but the happy pills only give me a small window to work with.

I know there are other riders here on the board...Guy's be careful, crap happens even sitting still.

I've got 90 + jumps in the duece. Almost got killed on a little Harley Sportster. Sold it the next day. The lady that tried to run over me never even knew how close she came to running me right into building.

Hope you feel better soon. Wishing you calm winds and soft landings.

Glad to hear it turned out the way it did cause your right.......it could have been a whole lot worse.

Get a quad with the insurance check you get from your ruined bike. And now would be a good time to find a new running buddy that could help you out till you heal up and then you'll have a new partner come season.............there's always a silver lining somewhere if you look hard enough.

Sure do hate to hear that. I was in the 18th airborne corp and served in iraq without any mishaps. Flipped a 4 wheeler one time and was down for 2 weeks. Wish I were closer I would help you keep them dogs run up.hope you feel better.

Too many depend on jimbos income  ....Rode to work 1 week ago today a young girl pulled in front of me probaly less than 100 feet , i was running 60. She was texting on her phone, After gathering myself up i wondered again is it worth it anymore.? ANYWAY TAKE A PILL GET A 4 WHEELER CULL TILL UR HAPPY AND RUN EM TILL THEY MELT.

Thanks guys, a buddy is gonna loan me his UT quad, I have a quad but it's a sport quad and not the best ride. The kids have informed me that they will be going along when I start running again. I won't be going for a couple weeks I have to let the bones heal a bit. I suppose the dogs are not going to get that rusty and who knows the break may do us all a little good.Bunny Blaster I know what ya mean and at this point I am thrilled with the outcome. Good to know there are some sky troopers out there guys. Again thanks.

Good idea. Last fall tore my calf muscle, in early Sept. Therapist said I would be laid up about 6 weeks. About week 4 I really wanted out, so I went to the club, which is fenced, so how much trouble could I get in  . The two I had followed a hare out a hole in the fence into wolf country, which you can hear wolves on a regular basis. So over the fence I go trying to get them to come off the hare. While in the process, I re-tore my calf. another 4 weeks of therapy and being laid up.

Sorry to rad about your injury Dan. Sounds like there will be lots of time for yard work on that new litter of pups. They should be ready to get started around the time you are ready to start chasing them!

I guess it will be better after I get this 5o lbs of plaster off my leg and get a walking type cast. Britts about 2 weeks out and looks like she should be in the Macy's parade-should be interesting.Hows you little buddy doing ? should be getting big.

Don't worry, if you still have those potlickers I sold you, they were used to just sitting a kennel for a while ;)
I have a plate in my ankle as well, it doesn't bother me most days. Although 3-4 years later now, the tendon seems to bother me more than the ankle does.

Glad you still have the pups, how are they doing? It's a shame about Jenny, she was a good dog.
