I talked to my neice who just turned 16 this Tuesday....asked her if she was going to go take the class to get her licence and she said, "no, mom and dad aint got the funds to send me through driving school"....so me being a nice uncle says, "hey, I have some landscaping needin done around the house....I will pick you up at 5am on Wednesday and Thursday (2hr roundtrip drive for me)...you landscape the house with me buying everything and telling ya what needs done and I will pay the $300 for driving school". Now, we are talkin 16 lazy hours at the most here...some weed pullin...sprayin roundup....layin 30 bags of mulch....spreadin some stone around with a rake....and plantin about 10 flowers....and spray down the kennels if there is time.
She laughs and says..."that is hard work and way too early in the morning, I am not going to do that...and I certainly am not going to spray dog poop"....her mom is flippin out at this point. I say, "are you sure"....she says, "I will do it but somebody has to help me and don't have to touch the kennels"....I say, "If I have to babysit ya and if you are going to pick your jobs, I will do it myself with my 7 and 9 year olds and save my money"....she humm halls around and finally I say, "nevermind, it ain't worth the hassle or the drama".
Now keep in mind when I was 15 I shoveled horse crap at a slaughter house, yes horse, and worked for $4 an hour doing that to get through driving school and buy a 86 Chitvette and 78 Chitvette (both wrecked) and matched them together to make a drivable first car.
I am just dumbfounded....wife, girls (paid them $1 each to buy slushies at campgrounds this weekend), and I got 90% of it done in less than 5hrs tonight...I would have been paying my neice around $25 and hour and she just couldn't handle it......what gives

Keep this in mind too....with the $$ we would normally give her for her B-day plus grandparents and such....she would have enough to pay the $300....but, instead she is buying some Geo-Cashe BS tool....so I say, "how the heck ya going to get to the locations, walk?"
