I recently just finished a nice wooden box for my pickup. At Lowes I found black vents used for ventalation in a house foundation. They are about 6x11" and made of plastic with rigid cross hatches made of plastic. They also have a sreen attached to the back of the vent. They come with a louvered door that I just removed. The way they are made you can cut the hole for them and they slide right in recessed flush on the side of the box. They were perfect and cheap.

On the front doors I laid out the door and drilled 1/2" holes 1" center to center about 5 holes by 13 holes wide. Looks really good. Hope this helps.
