Mange?
I have a female dog that has bad bumps on her ears, muzzle and head. The ears are loosing more hair by the day and there is an increasing number of bumps on her muzzle and head everyday. Does this sound like the mange or is it something else? BTW she is about 7 months old.

Re: Mange?
Aaron - check out the other post about losing hair. When you pull the hair on the infected area does it pull free leaving a ulcerated looking sore? If so, give 3 cc's of Penicilin-G in the muscle of the back leg (like the old time rabies shots). Within a week the sores should be drying up. It will take a bit longer for the hair to come back but your goal is to heal the ulcers and clear up the infection. If the sores seem infected, I would pull off the scabs and apply and antibodic/antiseptic as well. If the sores are not better in a week, it is likely fungal. Fungal infections normally response well to athlete's foot preparations.

Re: Mange?
None of it really looks like a sore at all it's just kinda black and bumpy where the hair has fallen off, the hair does pull out easily but only in certian spots but these spots don't yet look unsual. My one female has it bad and now my male is beginning to get it on the tips of his ears. They both run together every night and stay in the same kennel right now. I will attempt to get some pictures tomorrow if I can find the time. For the time being where can I get some the Penicilin-G, will the feed store carry it?

Ivomaec injected under the skin can also help clear it up if it is a parasite, but follw what Aaron is saying first.
