Which e-collar?

Post by Rockdog »

Hey all. I have been reading and searching the site looking for the skinny on training collars. Now that I am good and confused, what is the best bang for the buck? I'm not necessarily looking for a budget collar, but I am a K.I.S.S. kind of fella. Complicated stuff makes my head hurt, lol. Thanks,Rockdog.

Tritronics has the 'corner on the market'. They have their share of problems, but they make a far superior product. If you buy anything else you will likely sell them and buy some tritronics collars.

The biggest decision to make is how many collars you will need. Lots of guys buy a 1 or 2 collar unit and then decide they want a 6 dog unit a year later. They sell expandable units, but I think its cheaper if you buy what you need up front.

Good luck

Go to Collar Clinic. I did. Mine are two years old now and works like new. They sell reconditioned collars. They are practically brand new. They also come with a warranty for a fraction of the cost. Go with the expandable unit. You can just buy what you want without breaking you now and add collars when you get the money. One good thing about the exp is if a collar malfunctions or gets lost all you have to do is order another collar to go with it and you don't have to send nothing off to get it done.

Tri Tronics. I jut bought a used unit. G2 with 4 collars.. Now it was from a friend who took really good care of it , but it works great. Id say go with Tri Tronics . They have been around a long time and has to be a reason for it..

Thanks everyone. I appreciate all the good advice. Of course at the moment,I only have the one hound, but I can see at least one more in the near future. I would think 4 would be all I would I could feed and handle at any one time in the forseable future. I didn't know collars were that flexable. I like the idea of adding on as needed. Well,I'm off to check out some of them. Thanks again all,Rockdog.
