Tri Tronics

Post by Hippy »

I recently purchased a USED G2 Exp and I am not sure if I have the range that I should have. :( Is there a good way to effectively check the unit to see if it is working properly???
No I AM NOT GOING TO HOLD IT while someone "Hits" Me !!!

Thanx,

Jim

Jim if it is the Classic 70 get a clear line of sight at approx. 1 mile and the toner should work. If it is the Trashbreaker the same should apply at nearly 2 mi. The only other way I know to test them is to borrow an electrical tester and check the prongs the same way. That's about the only way I know to be sure it's shocking without holding it. The distance could be shorter also but it should get close to that.

I've used the Classic 70 exp. Although it's range is 1 mile, that is under ideal conditions - like from mountain top to mountain top. In thick brush, expect about 400 yards.

I have an old tri-tronics 200 lite that came with a light attached to two wires with plugs on the ends so that you can plug them onto the prongs to check if it is working. I use this same light to check my tri-tronics 3 dog beagler to make sure it works after being charged. Charge them up, put the plugs on the collars prongs and hit a button. if it lights up it's working.

DON'T TRY TO CHECK IT AROUND A HIGH VOLTAGE POWER LINE OR WITH AHIGHCHAIN LINK FENCE (OR SIMILAAR OBSTRUCTION) . HOLD IT UUP BY YOUR EAR AND YOU CAN HEAR IT.

I was hoping that I could check it with Voltmeter. :) Does anyone know what voltage it should put out and IF I UNDERSTAND IT If the tone works then the "Shock" will work also  .

My TT Sport G3 puts out 30VAC on the highest setting. That's probably what they all put out on high. Regarding whether they can be counted on to produce a shock if the tone works.... I have one collar now which has a good tone but the voltages are verrry weak and erratic - sometimes shocks, sometimes it doesn't - on lower settings. The tone is a good indicator that it's shocking but isn't a great indicator.

I just bought a set of tri tronics used that are two years old and this man had some sort of plastic thing that when you hit the button on the transmitter it would light up,the higher on the dial you went the brighter the light but I think I got a good deal on these.
