New Box

Post by BradWV »

I got tired of the box being too heavy or not big enough, so I built me one. 38" x 36" x 19". Just finished it this evening. Loaded it in the truck by myself! Everything is new other than doors which a took off of one of the boxes laying in the back yard. Let me know what you think.

I don't know, it looks like too much diamond plate for the back of one truck. I will send you my address and you can send it to me. :D :D :D
Great looking box and I would love to have one easy for one person to load. How many do you think you could fit in each side? What did you use for the inside? I like the handles on the bottom so you don't have to lift so high as well.

Should be able to fit 3 to a side. I framed it up with 1 x 1's, used 1/4" plywood for the bottom and the divider. I also insulated it with 1/2" foam insulation and tube of liquid nails. Everything is aluminum with the exception of the handles. I also used stainless screws on everything so there shouldn't be any rust. Silicon ed the sides before I screwed them on and also filled all of the angle the same way before I put them on. Should be cool in the summer, warm in the winter and water tight.

I bought the diamond plate at a local steel supply. It came in a sheet 4 x 10 x 1/16. One sheet was all that I needed.

I ended up having around $200 in the materials. The angle was a big expense. The only sheeting that I bent was the trim around the doors and the piece above them. All of the sides and the top are just flat sheets. I covered the edges with the angle. I have access to a metal break at work.

Hey Bradley, I didn't know you were sooo talented. Maybe your in the wrong business? Can you fit Vermont dogs into a W. Virginia box?

The only thing I see wrong with it is that it doesn't belong to me. That would fit under the cover on my Tundra just right. You should be able to fit 4 dogs to each side if you are not going on a real long trip with a box that size.
