Baby Bunnies

Post by brushyfork »

I went running this morning and the dogs found several rabbits but seemed to only be able to smell them for a short time before losing them. I saw a couple babies and I was wandering if you guys thought that was the problem? I've always heard that babies have very little scent and are hard to run. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

It has been my experience that baby rabbits are hard for a dog to run. I am sure that they do not put out much scent as that is Mother Nature's way of protecting them from predators. It is possible that the growing grasses may lessen the scent of grown rabbits.
I have yet to see a baby bunny in my Starting Pen. I see grown rabbits and usually this time of the year little bunnies are near every brush pile. Perhaps they are still in the nest.
