AKC does it again!

Post by Steve C. »

Two years ago I purchased a hound from Nova Scotia who was CKC registered. I transferred the CKC papers to my name and bought the required 3 generation CKC pedigree and submitted the somewhat complex application to AKC along with the $50 fee. About a week later I received a letter from AKC stating that the application could not be processed because I failed to submit the fee. Now, I had sent a money order from my bank along with the application and called AKC but was told that whether I sent the fee or not, they did not credit my account and I would have to resubmit the fee. I asked my bank if I could recover the $50 and was told that if AKC signed and notarized a form stating that the money order was not received, that they would refund my money. I submitted the form to AKC which was ignored. I bit the bullet and sent another $50 from my personal checking account and within a few weeks received the registration on the hound. Today I went to the Post Office and saw a letter from AKC. Not expecting anything, I opened it and discovered, you guessed it, ANOTHER set of papers on the dog. with a DIFFERENT registration number. Now how much trouble am I going to be in when I send the litter applications in on my two pending litters off this dog??? The soap opera continues........

Sue them for fraud. Call the better business bureau. They must really have a great record keeping system on their registrations. It would seem almost impossible to register the same dog twice if he had the same canadian number. These people are simply brilliant!!!!!!!!!

papers

Post by Jack »

Steve, Was it me I would jump thru their hoops . I have had their hoops get smaller and much harder to get thru the more you protest the way they do things. I yelled at them before and then it was their turn and I dug up records I did'nt know I had. The more I bitched the more I dug.The more I dug the more it cost. One day I become very meek and mild. I would tell them that they sent 2 sets of papers by mistake and see wht they wanted done. Its tough to deal with them, about like wife when she went thru the change.

I did the exact same thing, i sent a registration in and they said they never recieved the paper or the money, LUCKILY i made a copy before i sent it in ,i resent another check and recieved my papers, about a week later i recieved another set of papers, anywho i called akc and explained what happened and they sent me a check for 15 dollars. maybe this helps. My advise would be to call them and explain the issue date on both papers and etc.(hopefully they will refrund your $$$$$)...scott

Thanks guys- I guess my questions were rhetorical but I just wanted to vent a bit. I'll get it straightened out but it sure is aggravating that I'm expected to be held to a 100% accuracy standard without a computer system of my own, yet they can register the same dog twice as long as I pay twice. I'll get it fixed but like someone else said- this is a perfect opportunity for some unethical dealing by anyone looking to make a buck. The biggest aggravation though is that when I call them I'll be fortunate indeed to actually be able to speak to a real, live person; and if I'm REALLY fortunate, one who can even speak English.

They make mistakes, but they always make it right. I thank God for the AKC, else I'd have no idea of the ancestry of my hounds.

Nope I disagree.

If it werent for us the dog owners there would be no AKC.

I had my fill of them a few years back.

I had the same exact situation happen to me.

I was inches away from registering all my dogs ahra and burning the akc papers.

They work for us they are a registry not the ATF or whom ever they think they are.

If would have no problems tracking my dogs ancestry with arha papers.

It all about honesty and if you are dishonest Akc papers are no better than arha papers.

Best thing to do is send them your quality control engineering resume. Your advanced understanding will help. Point is: we have problems with all corps that size, not just American Kennel Club. With the past sluggish economy and downsizing, guess who was first to get the axe. That's right, the managers assuring you get first class service. So, I would say it's more the Republicans fault than the AKC!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you want a UKC world champion that is 1/4 collie, go there. If you want to go to the registry where everybody has a champion....well, enough said.

I have seen some dogs with AKC ( Papers ) that were not 100% beagle.

I would be reluctant to say any F.C. is better than another.

There are many AKC F.C. dogs that finished in brace trials that I wouldn't consider Gun Dogs.

Yeap, 3 years of us republicans has destroyed the country! Oh well, sure beats the other choice.

I had no idea that "W" was a director of AKC!!!! That flat tire I had last week must have been his fault too.
