stainless steel chain collars?

If you look at Twister in my Sig Photo (lemon on right) you can see the grey that the collar causes.
Probably more of a concentration of dirt and such... and the metal links working against each other
does create wear... so could be the result of that... not sure...
They are good collars, sorver their purpose well, eliminates collar clutter....
you will be pleased with them.

Re: stainless steel chain collars?
Alabama John, that seems to be a good way and the cheapest way to go. I might try that myself. Do you put a ring on your collars so you can lead the dogs?I just have name tags made locally with a hole in each end and go to the local hardware store and buy a link of the same chain that is sold for dog collars chain and two S metal clasp. They come in black or same color and material as chain. Cost all total about 1.00 per collar. All that you do is put the S clamps one on each side of the name tag and run the chain to the other half of the S clamp and squeeze them shut with a pair of pliars. leave the chain long and undo one half of the S clamp on the chain side and extend the chain as your dogs grow. When grown. I cut off the excess chain with wire pliars to fit the individual dog.
I've even done the same using all black S and black chain with copper name tags. Those really look good and don't leave the gray color on your dogs hair.
I don't like the big snaps to undo the collars on those that are sold. Unless you're a dog trader, how often do you take a collar off and on?Mine look much better and neater.
Easy do it yourself and takes about one minute to make

No, as I use the smaller chain and it will go in the lead snap.
Lots of choices of chains. Once used copper, once bronze chain. I like the black. All looked good !
Get lot of compliments from beaglers.

We've been useing the slip check collars for a couple of months now. Nice collars. Our hounds are having the same dis-coloration around thier necks also. I beleive it's from the hasp they use on the collars and not the stainless steel chain itself. Wish the hasp was stainless steel also but it's not.

What good is it to have a stainless collar with something else as the hasp??? Isn't that the old saying a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link?

I agree 100%. As they are now, if you have any color beagle other than white around their necks you'd never notice the dis-coloration. To bad I bought 20 of them. Sure wish they had stainless hasps!!!!!!!

ya and i see that they have the quick link in stainless but thats even more added cost. Im still looking into them i got a buddy that made one using alabama johns idea so we will see when he gets it done how it looks and works..
Re: stainless steel chain collars?
AL John does the name tag wear around the hole since tags are Brass I would think they wouldnt be very strong where S hook goes through hole I made some and made a tag just a little bigger then the brass one out of stainless steel and riveted the brass one to the stainless one but if you are not having any problems with wear or strength I will stop doing that PLEASE reply

I have had no problem with wear.
I like to use various name tag material like brass, copper, and have some made from black coated metal of some kind with gold colored lettering showing through. Probably brass coated with black something. All trade days here have several that make name tags while you're there.
One thing I like about the coated metal chains is no metal is actually touching your dog. Never had a dog chew off the hard coating of what ever color chain you choose either. In big stores, look under lighting chains. Lots of colors. Just 2-3 dollars for 10 feet of chain.
They come off easy with two screwdrivers inserted in the S.

I think it's too easy to get a dog hung in a fence or whatever, I just would not put that type collar on a hunting dog.
Re: stainless steel chain collars?
Mine have been thru, over, under several fences.... including the recen distruction of my chain link kennels!!!!! (female in heat).... and
no issues....

I have had my STAINLESS NAME tags for over 20 yrs. with no trouble ---I used a split lock washer 5/16 on each end of the tag and brasied the lock washer together put your chain on before welding --
--I used a small s hook for ajustment ---I bought long chocker chain and cut it to size
