The way the question was worded sounded like he was starting his own line and wanted to know how many times he had to breed this line to be pure(his). The first outcross is pure as long as he breeds to the same outcross.fulcount wrote: explain how the outcross is PURE! whatever your talkin about

Re: Question for any one
I feel like the patch guys should get a bumper sticker like jeep guys to put across their windshield that says, "Its A Patch Thing You Wouldn't Understand." It is interesting blood that produces some of the best looking dogs I have ever seen. Oh yeah CPC these guys are likely to skin ya if you get the Godfather's name wrong again, it's Willet Randall not Frank Willet. Chuck if that Pennyroyal Casey stuff is what you are looking for your brother from another mother in Michigan(Chuck) had a ton of that stuff in that Lilly cross with Gunner from Eberle. Man beagles are sweet!

Re: Question for any one
I think this has been a good topic. I know there are some on here that whould just as soon that us Patch people go away,I know one that has not posted which has surprised me. I have meant nothing durogatory towards any person`s breeding preferences or programs.
I am not trying to start my own line. I was just wondering how many generations it took to keep a line, full, pure or what ever your preference of terminology would be. I have had two prettyt good ,and are getting better hounds with that breeding you were talking about Mike, let them go because of the out crosses only. Oh yea I am haveing a plate for the front of my vehicle made in Ga that says PATCH. That way you will know when I`m comeing
Hope to meet ya next time I come up.
There was a post on here some time back, puppies for sale, said they wouldn`t find Yellow creek or Pearson creek in them. they were Patch, check back far enough I think you`ll find it. Mine have it.
Thanks for the comments. I have really learned a lot.

Re: Question for any one
Chuck,
I think your question is similar to asking about Politics, Religion, Fishing or Gas mileage, you will get a thousand different answers & no way to prove anyone right or wrong. Here is my take on it, I am not trying to duplicate anything Mr Randall did, or breed based on how I think he would or anything of the sort. I am not even convinced what he preferred, would suit me but its like this, I happened to get a few dogs that are exactly what I like in a hound & they just happened to be Patch hounds & so thats what I have stuck with & bred because they reproduce more of the same, so I will stick with them until I cannot produce what I like in a dog anymore. Here is what I think, when you see Pure or 100% that means Pure or 100% not 7 out of 8 or 6 out of 9, if your favorite puddin is made exactly the same generation to generation & always taste great, but one generation somebody blends a Turd in the puddin, you want a bite ? If you go back to adding puddin every generation, when you get 3 or 4 generations down stream , you ready for a bite yet ? Probably not, because even though you can't taste it , you know its in there. I don't think its anything to argue about though, there are keepers & culls in them all !
Chuck, by your definition, Your pedigree is not pure, due to 2 instances of Diamond Run Samantha, she is 1/2 Patch, her dam Gunnie Run Sue, is out of Bunny Run Georgia, out of Hare Song Radar, FC Northwoods Flakers Rex, Leitzas Black Spotty, FC Theisens Den Rod Smokey, FC Leitzas Bonnie Sue. The question is, does this make her any less of a rabbit dog ?

Re: Question for any one
i think the question was about pure or 100% of a bloodline!!!...that being said...he got an honest answer from someone that knows about 100% pure hounds!!!...ill agree papers cant run a rabbit!!...but that wasnt the question!!!...from my understanding...plowboy has or at least knows someone who has a 100% pure line of hounds!!!...i know a guy that has a 100% pure line of hounds...that he created!...and i want 2 of them!!!...BAD!!!!dave g wrote:The question is, does this make her any less of a rabbit dog ?Absolutely not, She is an excelent hound.

Re: Question for any one
It does not take a outcross to introduce a "turd" into pudding (bloodline), they will surface naturally within a bloodline(pudding) when the waste(unculled) ancestor genes "nick" within a breeding, and theses are carried on with on the basis, they're "pure".
The closed minded will never know the joy or improved flavour of warm caramel mixed with vanilla, while both are "pure" and intermingle well... one within the other (phenotype).

Re: Question for any one
blubeagle, you are right. he has got some real good answers. i have a "100% pure" patch dog that has some of plowboys stuff, preachers stuff, coldforks and so on. chuck called me the other night telling me about all the replies and emails he has gotten on the subject. we had a good talk on the phone so i just had to get on this and give him some too

Re: Question for any one
Thanks Dave. Not trying to start my own line, take over any ones kennel name or blood line.My question never did get answered,so `I`ll just use my own judgement. Traced Hammerenpatch Caseys ped on World Ped`s On Line here`s what I found. Also Anderson Patch is a full brother to Palpatch. This is the line I will continue to breed. Any one with any thing to Willit Randell`s foundation stock let me know and I`ll try an buy some of it. Hope the full peds comes out.Best I can figure there ain`t any thing pure any more.If there is post a ped.

Re: Question for any one
It's interesting to read the take on this thread from Bev's board and Chris's board............a lot of similarities...........and a few differences too.
