There are two that are reasonable in cost, both $50 and well maintained, which is very important as MS Window's moves from XP to Vista and now on to 7. There are several free programs out there, some of which have not been updated or are not supported well anymore. Most if not all of the free ones available do not work with Vista or 7 and have other limitations that make their price not worth the hours of time and effort you will use loading data into them, only to become obsolete. ;)

Breedmate Pro V6.0 @ http://www.breedmate.com which in my opinion is the more adaptable of two. It allows renaming and adding of fields to suit your specific needs and has a yahoo message group much like this board to help have your questions answered by someone who has probably already had that issue and solved it. This software allows you to trade data very easily with many other pedigree programs and is what Gene W and I use to keep our data and continually update the http://www.beaglepedigree.com site. An example of some of the pedigree layouts can be seen in the "Searching for information" section of this board where Gene has posted to help an untold number of people. Breedmate is a total kennel software, letting you keep track of vets, wormings, sales, vaccinations, etc.

The second is iPed 2010 http://www.instaped.com/iped.asp which is a little more rigid in it's fields but does produce a "prettier" printed pedigree. It only allows you to easily trade data with other iPed users. iPed is mainly for pedigrees and the total kennel package is The Breeder's Standard® 2010 http://www.mbfs.com/tbsdesc.asp and is $110.

Both offer trial programs so you can take them for a test drive. :D
