UKC Hunting Beagle Format.

In local clubs 3 or 4 people in the cast are buddies in SOME situations and the odd ball in the cast sometimes cant get the vote won when his dog comes through a line by him self God Forbid because the line is easiest way the boys that carry the scorecard will get you .You vote on it and take it back ,the master of hounds WILL SAY I HAVE TO GO WITH MY JUDGE IT WAS A JUDGE MENT CALL .IF the dogs nose is down ward it scores even if it isnt barking .I will be attending a few akc hunts this year to see some familiar faces dont care if I place or not Im tired of the two faced cowards in UKC

UKC needs to go to Elimination format in Hounds and Hunting. All cast winners move on. Alot of guys are not running in UKC because of it.

It's just not practical for the average hunt. If they left hunt times the same they would be running late into the evening at every hunt, and a lot of guys with families can't do that. It may work if they shortened hunt times or ran everything in the morning. IF they ran everything in the morning it would hurt clubs entries.It's not bad they way it is now. I like it when the few big hunts are ran that way.

UKC Hunting Beagle Format has a good concept behind it. If you know the rules you it's hard tp get cheated. Every cast goes by a majority vote in the field on any question. So really to get cheated you have to have the majority of the cast against you. I attend qute a few of these hunts up here in Indiana and we hardly ever have any problems. We get some bad apples that cause problems like every format does, but where I'm at they are few and far between. I like this format the best because as a handler I have a say as to what goes on the score card. No other format works that way.

I've never felt cheated in UKC. At Point Pleasant my dog got strike and line.+200 That was the only rabbit scored on.I think it took +420 to get in the finals.So I go home with 6th place.That's happened more than once.If you don't get in rabbits you're going home.

There are about 9 clubs within an hour of me, and I can assure you that this does not happen at any of them. Buddies or not we're all out there to win and witness good hound work.

I'm not a spokesperson for UKC. I plan on attending trials from all formats over the next year. I know nobody mentioned me or my area. I'm just saying that you can put down a format just because of one or two clubs. There are some bad clubs out there, and parts of Indiana has some as well, but that doesn't make the entire hunting beagle format bad. That's all I'm saying.

about cuttin' my teeth on the Eliminator.Seems to me like a feller should have a better chance at winning a cast in UKC HB than AKC where you don't even call your dog or nothin'.It is my understandin' that you just turn 'em loose and a judge tells you whether your dog is any good or not.Of course I don't want to sound too opinionated considering I am a total newby and have yet to even enter a trial.
I got a UKC rulebook and read it over.I am the Sec. and Treas. of my local coon club.I officiate several coonhunts throughout the year,that is one reason I was interested in the HB format,it is fairly familiar to me due to the fact that the UKC Coonhound rules are very similar.
I have dealt with jerks in a cast before,sure can ruin a cast when you get some beligerant A$$hole in the cast that don't know the rules,but thinks he does.I have found that most loudmouths that are trying to run a bluff sull up like a ole 'possum when you jerk a rulebook out of your back pocket.
Of course,there are a few who are just stupid and don't know it,those are the worst.

Its not always a BAD APPLE or TROUBLE MAKER in the cast .This trouble maker crap a lot of the time is some one speaking up or asking for a vote on a call because he feels the call was incorrect ,YOU THEN A LOT OF TIMES ARE LABELED THE A$$ because you spoke up .I have seen a judge try to give his dog a line in front of my own the BIG TUNA at the time ,the only dog on the line coming right at us on the line ,the judges dog comes running in from right field 50 yards away and meets my dog as hes turning and the judge say his dog gets the line .BULL _HIT!!!! And then the judge get mad because I say that dog doesnt deserve that line .his response The only thing you can do is warn me for swinging or running rough Well how about the rule the dog has to run the majority of the track to recieve line points or even be RUNNING THE TRACK .In this case the other dogs had no clue and werent even in the chase this judge was ticked he was sucking hind tit and didnt have the dog power .So im not discouraging anyone form trying it just remember if you start winning and you have a decent dog they will start screwing you and all you can do is ask to vote on it and hope the rest are honest which there are some .This is what is called WIN AT ALL COSTS . Also I do enjoy the ukc hunts its a few that give several a bad name .As for AKC I like the format I dont like 8 or 9 dogs down at a time ,5 is about all I can tolerate but Im gonna try it I like the people Ive met .

Sounds about like the usual crap that goes on at coonhunts.I am gonna try and make it to the hunt,it is only about an hour or so from me.I aint going expecting to win,I would just like to get a feel for what kind of dogs are being hunted in it.
It would be cool to make it through the first round though.Never know,beginners luck and all,lol.
