I second that motion. I watched him run on dvd at 13 years old but would have loved to see him in his prime.

Re: Heliprop running style?
Terry McBride from Ontario ,Canada passed away this past year and was a real lose of a super knowledgeable beagler to the beagling world.Terry had posted in the past that Branko had sent him both Heli-Prop and his sire Jack of all Trades to run and trial for him one winter.Terry stated that Heli-Prop could beat Jack but of course Jack was 8 years old at the time and Heli-Prop was much younger. He took them to a trial and Heli-Prop won it and Jack placed second.
Terry recallled taking Heli-Prop out on snow with two Field Champions and Prop absolutely buried them for several hours.Terry then brough out two other Field Champions and Prop proceeded to bury those two also! Terry stated in his post on the Canadian board that Heli-Prop was the most impressive hound he had ever run and Terry campaigned a lot of Branko's dogs to their F.T.C.H. status over the years.

Re: Heliprop running style?
I know you are looking for info of people who saw Heli Prop himself run...which I have not. But like many others on here, I have gotten the chance to own a couple of dogs out of Heli Prop. From what I have seen he seems to have thrown above average nose, good speed (but not blazers) and a smoothness that most dogs don't have. The ones I have seen were fairly smooth on the line, but all of them had a mellowness and brains that were WELL ABOVE AVERAGE! For example...I currently own a little male directly out of Prop....(youngest one I know of) that is a pretty nice hound. He has good line control (he has enough points to be a Progressive Pack Champion and his win, but lacks 5 points from an another club to be a champion). This little male is VERY MELLOW and laid back! He has great hunt as well! You can kennel him with a litter of pups and you will never hear a word from the old man. I love the demeaner that most of the Heli Prop dogs i have seen have about them.
Before Terry passed away, I had the priveledge of talking to him in length about Heli Prop. He had nothing but good things to say about him and he LOVED the dog. Once he found out about the little male I had, he was planning on bringing a female down in the future and breeding to him....but unfortunately he never got that opportunity. Terry was a class act and VERY Knowledgeable about beagles. I always respected him and listened closely to everything he posted!
Here is a pedigree of the little male I own....
...................Branko's Jack of All Trades
Sire......Branko's Heli Prop
...................Branko's Speedy Devil
..................Branko's Ali Baba
Dam.....Branko's Baba Janet
..................Branko's Conna (out of Jack of All Trades)

Re: Heliprop running style?
Hey Colebuck Beagles, how old is your HeliProp male? Do you have any pics of him that you could post? I've got small Bitch that's going to be 8 years in Sept. that sounds an awful lot like your H.P. male. She has been a solid performer for me as a gundog. Brains, good nose, good hunt and no quit! HeliProp is her Grandpappy! I breed her once to a small male I got from Steve Corey up in Maine ( Berpaul Mac X Mill River Stella Blue) that produced some real nice pups, but I often wondered what another shot of Prop would add to a breeding? Not that I could even get her to you for a breeding, but would like to see what he looks like.
Oh... And I also am very interested in how HeliProp ran. I was in a beagle club awhile back, and I'm pretty sure a Fellow by the name of Mike Conte mentioned that he had either handled HeliProp or watched him run. About all I remember was that he said the dog was the real deal, and I think he said H.P. was better than Jack Of All Trades in his opinion. Don't quote me on this, but I'm about 90% sure that's how it went.

Re: Heliprop running style?
I've never seen Prop run, but when I added his blood into my breeding, my pups seemed to know how to work a check right out of the starting pen. The majority of the dogs that I have bred (raised) go back to or were out of Gay's Spring Creek Robin. I bought her from Brent Gay when she was 6 months old in '95 I think. She was by Heli-Prop X Elk Creeks Amazing Grace. Not every pup she produced was a good one, but the good ones just naturally knew how to work a check out the right way & stay until they found it; also something that is very important to me, but overlooked by many it seems, is that they kept thier mouth shut while they were working the check until they found it; and when they found it, they claimed immediatley and were able to produce the loss right back into a drive in short order. Many that she produced were good enough to be hunted over solo right out of the starting pen. I owe a lot to that dog for any success I've had in breeding. Also, thanks to Branko Krpan for breeding such a fine hound and offering him to the public & Brent Gay for selling me Robin.
