Syris x Dorroh's JT Rebel Pearl Pups

Post by beaglehandler »

Anyone having a pup from this cross please post on the progress of your pup. Just wanted to know what others think of these pups. I have a female and she is a hand full. Can run a rabbit but loses them sometimes as fast as she finds them. She prefers to run with my slower male and will not give mouth with my faster dogs. She searches wide on the check but will always come back to where she started. She has not been ran more than 20 times and when the kennel door is opened she goes straight to the truck. That to me shows desire. When she runs with my slower male she will run the front some and follow some. With the faster dogs she just runs the tail and never really hunts or puts her nose to the ground. I only ran her twice with the faster dogs and will not run with them again. I feel she is a special little dog with alot of potential and only needs time to improve. By the way this pup is only seven months old.

Beaglehandler, I am glad to here your Syris pup is doing well. My two pups are starting to circle the hare now, they have been sight chasing and started opening up on them about a week ago. Today I had them out by their selves and they made one big circle and I followed them as they worked the hare along. I saw the hare 3 times and when the pups lost him they came right back to the point of loss and sorted it out. A few times I worked them a bit, They just turned 41/2 months and although the have playing spells when they pick up the scent trail they are all business. Today they sounded like a real pack of hounds. Good luck with yours.

Keep them running

I have a female pup out of that litter. Overall I am very impressed w/ her progress. She is jumping and circling her own rabbit and also running w/ a pack. Sometimes she searches and hunts harder than others - but I recognize that she is still young. She has a high pitched squeal that is very distinct - not my favorite voice, but I think it is still changing.

I have had similar results running her w/ faster dogs and she does best either by herself or w/ a good med. speed hound. On a check she works the area pretty good, but have noticed that instead of following the first hound out of the check, she will stay and try to work through it herself. Again she is still young and developing. Again, overall I am very pleased.

How tall is your pup out of this litter? :D

Took 4 dogs out last night including the Syris pup. They jumped a total of 5 rabbits and the pup jumped 3 of them! Two of the dogs that I took out I'd say are better then average jump dogs, and the other not so good. This is the first time that the pup has jumped that high % - and maybe it was just her day. But she is getting better and better each time out and still just 7 mo. old. I am pleased. :D

Mr Arnold, I hope the best for you in finding one of these pups. I would give 10 times what I gave for mine, that is just how special she is. I have already started my search of a stud for a year or two down he road. I feel I have found the stud dog that is a perfect match for this little hound. But what has occured recently, I may just take her to Rick and line breed her. Good luck and if you find two please let me know as I would love to have another just like her.
