My best memory was about 16 years ago with my dog Jake he was a $25 dollar pup that I had got late
the winter before. The mother and 5 of the other 6 pups died of an infection at 10 weeks. Jake had been very sick,
unable to stand or eat, I nursed him back to health with help from my girl friend, now wife,
and my family. We had been out training for a couple weeks and one wet snowy Saturday morning
Jake and I got our first rabbit together with my soon to be wife, who doesn't hunt but liked to see the dog work, watching. He died at 13 years old but retired from hunting at 6 due to
really bad epileptic siezures, but I will never forget that Saturday morning.

Hunting with my father...I was a late starter due to sports but once I got going he always believed in me and even when the other trash talking guys we hunted with didn't. On one particular occasion we were leading the dogs to the truck and jumped a rabbit, we released a couple of dog to give chase and I took off by myself (everyone else was dog tired) to kill the rabbit and catch the dog. Well as I was walking back my dad and one of the other guys were talking about weather or not I got the rabbit, they heard the shot but they were betting against me, everyone except my father. I made both of us proud with that rabbit tucked away in my coat!!

Looking forward to having these type of moments with my 2 sons.

About 20 years ago we ran a rabbit into a hollow maple tree, being the "hunters" that we are we decided to go get the chainsaw out of the truck and cut this criiter out! Well the tree kicked back and destroyed the saw and still no rabbit. So we went and got another saw, yea another $250 dollar saw and got it pinched and bent the bar. Not to be out done you guessed it saw # 3 came out and we finally got the rabbit out of the tree! We felt so stupid we let him go! Kerry in Maryland
