that's true it would fall under kennel manners. I got one that barks at feeding time. I hate it. My others don't bark when they see me a coming with the food bowls. They just get excited and pace around. I have one that barks till I put the bowl down. Its getting annoying.

Some random thoughts of mine from reading this thread.....

........ I don't like mouthy dogs.

....... but to take a page from Pete Richardson's book, I dislike not being able to run a hare even less than I like mouthy dogs.

....... worse is when mouthy dogs can't run either

....... If I lived where Eddy Williams and Maple Valley do, I wouldn't keep or breed anything but hot nosed dogs that can run, and I wouldn't apologize to the guys up north about it ....

........ however, you also wouldn't hear me talk about how my dogs can run ANYWHERE in ANY conditions

........ So far, in my experiences, BIG NOSE and extra mouth seem to go together....... especially in ideal scenting conditions.
........ when things get nasty out there, your mouthy dogs aren't mouthy anymore and your honest hot nosed dogs never make a peep

..... mouthy dogs tend to get worse with experience and age

...... I can make an honest mouth dog a little mouthy ...... just let me run them for a couple of years up this way and when I send them back you'll see what a mean.

...... I think the term "mouthy" means different things to different folks, makes a discussion about it difficult

.......I hunted today..... dogs picked, pecked and plowed thru deep, sandy, old snow in temps just below freezing. Thought I'd do some shooting. Heard some barking, never saw a hare :???:
