Re: beagle clubs in st.louis area
Welcome Kevin,
What style of dog do you have? or want
that's the first thing we need to know.
unless you dont have any yet and you want to see the diffrent styles to get an ideal of what you want.
which by the way is a real good ideal.
i went the other route and dove in head first.
i wasted a whole year on that ideal.
this is a good place for info.
feel free to e-mail or PM me any time
i'm no expert but will help if i can.
we just had a ARHA LP trial saturday about 30 or 40 min. south of ST.Louis
Ed is talking about Chris wells this is his web-site
http://www.freewebs.com/stavemillbeagles/
and he still has a couple pups for sale even tho his site dont say it.
and he's wanting them to go to trialers .
he just had 2 litters but im not sure what he has left.
altho the jewnee X jody should make some powerful dogs.
take care.

Re: beagle clubs in st.louis area
Steve, they run gundogs in Small Pack Option. Midwest is just a federation that runs in SPO I believe. I don't think there are any Mid-West clubs around here. Both the clubs I mentioned belong to the United Beagle Gundog Federation.
As in any trial format you have a variety of judges and therefore a variety of interpretations of the rule. Hounds are run in packs of up to 9. For the most part I would say these clubs like a hound that is medium plus speed. Also the hounds can and will find their own rabbit( they better if I am judging.) They should also run with a desire to overtake should conditions allow for that.
