I learned with and used my Great Grandfathers 20 gauge single shot until about 8 years ago. My Dad was getting on my case about how I needed to retire Grandpas gun to save it for my son and one day future grandson, so I bought a used Mossberg 500 in 20 gauge for $40.00. I sawed off and machined the 28" barrel to 18.5" in a lathe and installed choke tubes and put a sling on it. Great brush gun, I only put 2 shells in it for the occasional second shot, and I can sling it on my back without having to carry it in my hands all day. I must admit though, I sure love that ole single shot of Grandpas, taught me to make the first shot count and always felt like Grandpa was hunting with me  .

Jamie you can get a CZ O/U for the about the same price-they are lighter and sholder better.
I am going to buy a Stoger Coach gun 20ga single trigger and give it a try but I love the O/U CZs.

TommyG, thanks. I had looked at CZ's before Tristar, however most around these parts that I saw were at least $200 to $250 higher than the Tristar's.

I use my 20 ga. NEA single shot most days. It is light and shoots really good. All a man needs, IMO.

I just got an 870 Express Magnum 20 gauge all synthetic and took it out the other day and it is light. Still have the 28 inch barrel but a whole lot lighter than my 12 gauge 870 Wingmaster.

I just turned 71 the 24th of December and I have two good female beagle litermates that I hunt as much as possible. I shoot a Model 12 - 20gauge that originally was bored Modified but I had it opened up a bit years ago. My parents gave me this gun on my 18th birthday in 1956 and I have shot a gillion rabbits with it. I also shoot an Ithaca - 20 gauge side by side.
If I were you I would choose either one. Can't go wrong!!!

I have a tristar and love it. My buddy also bought a tristar and likes his just as much. They stand behind their product and it is lighter than any O/U I have found yet. We both installed the fiber optic beads on ours. They have benelli choke tubes and I believe they are made from their patten. The safety has a selector to choose which barrel you want to shoot first and then fires the other next. Good Luck Buy one you wont be disappointed.
