I was on another board were a guy done a poll.To kill or not to kill.I was in shock to find out that 72 percent don t rabbit hunt.Just run dogs.Who on here hunt the rabbit or just liston to the dogs. Not saying anything is wrong with either one.But I would love to find a board with just rabbit hunters. Were u can put a picture on there and nobody gets upset.I have notice on here and some other boards some get upset about somebody killing rabbits. So are yall rabbit hunters or pleasure hunters?I don t know love to find a board were somebody not saying. You don t need to be killing any rabbits. Thanks yall.

Hunter first!
i run all year
i pleaser run when seasons not in.
and even hit a few trials.
may even try some AKC ones this year.
i have one old style SPO Med speed
rest will be Mid West.
the only reason i get bummed out when i see someone slaying the
rabbits, is i dont know where they hunt....LOL

i've been running and gunning for over 30 years, but there is nothing wrong just kicking back and listening to the dogs run i used to take my old buddy(curt elliott rest in peace  ) and we would let the dogs run for 5 or 6 hours :D

Theres plenty of gunners on here. I wouldnt worry about the ones who say you dont need to be killing the rabbits. I rarely kill any but I enjoy seeing the posted pics from those of you who do. I like to listen to the dogs run and I hunt for the love of good hound work but there is no right or wrong way just the way you enjoy. Keep posting pics for those that dont like it to bad!

There's a couple cry baby's on this board that dont want u to shoot rabbits because they want the rabbits to bring eggs on easter! Hell i Dunno

Im a rabbit hunter first and foremost. I dont shoot every rabbit i see and i like to see the rabbit circle at least
once before i pull the trigger. Im not in it just for the kill. The best part is hearing the sweet music of the dogs hot and heavy on a rabbit but my dogs do have alot of rabbits gunned over them every year. Not one goes to waste.
I feel like the rabbit is the dogs and my trophy.

POST ALL THE PICS AND VIDEO'S U WANT

Pay no attention to what any one says.I don`t think you can find that kind of board.I run an gun, been doin it since I was 12, 69 now, ain`t hurt the population yet. They taste good and a dog needs to taste blood once in awhile. Just came in from a 1:10 min run with Jack, Gus and an 11month old pup. Dry as all get out here, part of the time it was a smokin, part of the time it wasn`t.

I shoot some every year but I don't shoot every one they run. I wait until they've been running a good hour or more then I start thinking about shooting it, I have nothing against anybody the shoots a pile of them I just prefer to allow the hounds to work for awhile first.

Ive got nothing against pleasure running or field trialing ( I do em both) but Im a rabbit hunter.

I dont think you can stop pile em very much with all the coyotes, hawks, owls, foxex, bobcats, etc. so we shoot pretty much every one that we can. Some go in the freezer but they all eventually end up in the skillet.

If that makes somebody mad theyll just have to get mad I guess.

i read a DNR report a few years back about rabbit populations here in IL and the effects of gunhunting them. to sum it up the report said that hunters shooting rabbits account for LESS than 10% of the yearly mortality rates of rabbits. hawks-owls-coyotes-wild cats-and other predators do more harm than any gunhunter or beagle ever could. if you shoot every rabbit you see, it will have little effect on population.

I love to rabbit hunt as much as anybody. We usually hunt places once each year and I have shot my daily limit a time or two. I have no problem with people putting pictures in magazines or on the www. Some people just harvest irresponsibly here and while I cannot control what everybody does I don't have to like it. A friend of mine told me last night that nobody is jumping many rabbits that he has talked to here in town. He told me about a guy that has good dogs and hunts alot has been to a place where last year he killed 15 one day and went back the next day and killed 12 then followed up later in the season with an 8 day, now he is whining that he went back this year and only jumped 2. "There's no rabbits this year", Duh !! Then we have the trespassers that figure well we will slip in on here since it's a week day and no ones around. Next thing you know they have shot up your honey hole before you even get a chance to go legally. I love a good race first and foremost.

We don't shoot a lot in the places we condition dogs, but we do shoot some! I like to take folks who don't get to shoot rabbits alot or
rabbit hunt. I took my cousin the other day and we jumped 6 and killed two. He did the shooting. I have killed a bunch of them and will
kill more I do really enjoy having other folks shoot them that have never really hunted with hounds alot. There are some places we have
a good population and we will shoot some for sure! We hunt public land alot and they get dogged hard. We have a good day to kill 5-9 just
for the fact they hole up quick or get real sneaky on you. Imagine if the dogs never got any fur in there mouth. That would not be real fun
for them. It would equate to a running back getting 25 carries a game and never scoring. My hounds love the intensity of the kill! And I like
rabbit with biscuits and gravy!!

When I'm hunting I want to see at least 2 circles made. If they run more then great, im pleased with that as well. Now, if they are running one and they break down a lot, I will not shoot the rabbit, my opinion that rabbit out tricked the dogs and deserves to be ran another day. If they run the rabbit the right way, with close contact with the rabbit, I will shoot some lead his way if I'm close enough. Sometimes I'll unload the 20guage and just listen to the music...... I really just want to watch and hear them run.
