Max is gone. I always thought max was a handsome hound but I judged him by the tip of his tail.

i owned a dog named Wilders Slickrock Max CDV. He wasn't the best I have seen but I ran him in the Ky. state ARHA LP hunt one year out of shape. In two one hour casts he jumped 9 rabbits. I always was proud of him under the gun too.

Guys you just don't know how much I appreciate a great jumpdog. I think that is the finest compliment a guy can pay your dog is to say that sure is a nice jumpdog. I could sit for hours and listen to guys tell about different dogs and how they did it. I really appreciate the input. I've got a female thats way above average on jump and I definitely want to breed her to a nice male thats a jumpdog also. Keep the input coming I love it. You know when it comes to a real jumpdog it doesn't matter if he is ugly, a grade dog, a bloodline you just can't stand or whatever you still have to love them.

From what I have expeirienced ALL great jump dogs have a great nose.

As one person posted, they may not quite hunt the hardest but they wind the rabbit and go directly to them.

Some may laugh, but I had a female that would occationally rig from the truck on a hot hare track. Many times If there was a fresh snow from the night before I would put her on a track that crossed the road and she would go in 100 yards or so and jump it. Hope to get another like her some day.

The lack of any tollerance for any tongue before the jump has greatly reduced the amount of quality jump dogs. Hot nosed dogs simply do not jump as many rabbits.

Most of the dogs being listed on here dont seem to be the famous dogs, but rather dogs that simply stated jump rabbits. I would guess without knowing most of them, that they have good noses!

I agree that about every good jump dog I've seen had a good nose.

My hound back in the summer was probably 15 feet or so away from this brush pile, the wind shifted and blew over the briars and the pile, Moe turned his head and looked at it, ran right into it and had a cottontail come out from under his chin. His nose is awesome.

Mr Vest, I agree with you 100% on jump dogs. Love em and you know one when you see one. I have owned 2 but like a fool no longer have either. One was out of Turbo by Turbo, Buckeye Bold RedBull. He had his flaws but was a jump dawg. I will say this about a jump dog. Don't know what you got til its gone.

LaMarr, did you breed the Max dog and did he peproduce the same type dog? I like the thought of crossing the Ninja and Shorty blood.

Hay Fulcount, what about some of those Grampy, New York Nick males I hear they always produced some hard hunting jumpdogs?

Max was my all time favorite male jump dog.. I have seen him covered with blood and pads raw and never slow down. He was all heart. He was pretty ugly and crooked legged. Had a great mouth, never knew he was a short little thing, guess he never looked in a mirror. Day in and out no matter what he hunted...

My Female LIL Bit of Love III is out of Snake and she is a really nice jumpdog. Has 4 first place wins..If you find out where he is let me know i'd like to find out more about him.
