Why not check with some of the Upchurch brothers in Monticello. They should have some of Don Mccutchin old stock. Would be related to Ellison Ridge redman.

My advise?

I'm suprised with all the talk about Northway hounds, no one has mentioned the original breeder of these Northway hounds, Paul Komorny. He has AKC champions that are producing champions. This is not to take away from Lynn or Dexter because they too have some nice hounds and I've seen several out of Sampson-owning one myself. They are for the most part, good hounds but I can't think of a single one that has finished in the AKC? The closest being a 9 year old female with 4 wins and lacking 18 pts. I myself would go with 2X Nat FC Maravics Blueberry located in Pike Co. Kentucky. Now that's a champion producing champions! Or another real good male that is producing well is 2X Nat FC Branko's One Tough Ombre located in Ohio for a limited time. Or another FC producer FC Branko's Hard Rock in Ohio. Or another really good producing hound (young in his breeding career) FC Brent's Prime Time in Kentucky. All of these hounds will be a good way to go. One that I heard throws alot of hunt is Can FC Mikermas Superdog in Ohio. All of these hounds are top notch. Make sure you get a Brucellosis test done.

for the most part dexters and lynns stock has been run in arha lp, if you look there for results you will see where they stand out besides the true test is under the gun and what dogs are still hunting at the end of the day and i know thats were northway stands out

I would look at Dexter's other males. Iron Eagle and Rouser.

You'll want to call Farrell Smith who has him at stud. Blueberry is a medium-fast hound with great line control. Just like most all Ninja hounds, there is alot of bottom end. He has an add in upcoming litters on this site.

I have a female with ellison ridge red man on top and bottom, the sire to my dog is one hell of a rabbit dog he is one of those dogs that just know's where the rabbits at and don't waste time getting to them, he is red and white and 15in and the guy lives in leslie co, I don't know if he has trialed him any I think that he has but I cain't swear to it, drop me a pm if you are interested and I will get in touch with him to see if he would stud him out. also how close is redman to your bitch?

Redman is her greatgrandfather on the top side.I bred her to a dog directly out of Redman when she was 2 and this produced some good gundogs but I dont know if they are trial material or not.I have a male pup from the first litter and he does alright but I have'nt put him in a trial yet. This bitch is featured in a article I wrote for the April issue of the Rabbit Hunter mag. on page 46. Since I linebred toward the top side last time I think I will lean toward the bottom this time with the Northway stuff and see what happens.

OK, I'll be the one to throw the wet blanket on this discussion. I'm by no means saying that any of the stud dogs listed will not sire good pups or that your bitch won't produce but how can any of us give advice on choosing a mate for her when we know virtually nothing about her strengths and weaknesses and those of her ancestors? I believe that nationwide we see about 20% of the pups born turn out to be better than average hounds and the reason is that too many of us choose a stud by a popularity contest or convenience rather than by doing our homework. I wish you the best with this breeding but you DID ask for opinions, so I felt like I need to be the dissenting party.

I have seen countless mid-west dogs run.
I have seen some pretty good ones.

But in my opinion the best mid west style dog I have ever seen is JohnL's Doc dog.

If you guys get a chance to get down to Ohio and see this dog go I'm sure it would be worth it.

He is no joke. I don't like watching dogs go in a trial because you can never really see much.

But if the faster mid-west style dogs is what you like I don't think another one could out run him in a brace.

I'm not easily impressed and I do not perfer a super fast dog.
But that dog is simply awsome to watch.
