What is this on this rabbits foot?

Post by jon cornett »

We've shot 6 rabbits this year that have had this place on them. It has only been on the back legs of the 6 that we have seen have this. It is not a warble, its kind of a solid fleshy lump above the rear foot.

That lumpy flesh is scar tissue. I'd bet there was something in there that's worked it's way out or the rabbit pulled it out.
Been very wet this year and a rabbit sits on it's rear feet so that's a good dark, damp, warm spot for anything to take up residence.

what we have found is not a warble or what some call wolves or where a warble was, they have been solid lumps of flesh. very hard and solid.

It looks to me like tumors as it shows individual nodules. If it were from warbles it would be more watery and inflamed. I doubt you would see the hard encasiated nodules. If it were cysts they would not be real hard but kind of pliable and have fuild in them.

You guys need to toughen up!!! Old Bear Grylls would be eating those things for breakfast.

Seriously though, do we even have those up here??? I've never seen or heard of them before.
