Wow, I'm sorry to hear this. Bill was a fixture in ARHA beagling. I used to love tormenting Bill. One time he was judging the bench at a trial -- Leon Buford's club in Michigan. I thought he should pick a certain dog, he picked some ugly old dog (lol) and I took my glasses off and gave them to him. We all got a good laugh out of that. Over the years it was good to get a big hug from Bill whenever trialing brought me to southern Indiana...and Taylor's steakhouse, where Bill would sometimes join us for dinner.

68 is young. Gone too soon. :(

What can you say about Bill. He was defenitely one of a kind. Listening to his stories made going to some of these trials all worthwhile. My dad and I still laugh about the story Bill told us one time (with a straight face) about how he was a jungle fighter and if he had it in for someone they would never see him coming. As he said it he kind of did a karate chop with his hands. It was priceless. Another of my favorite Bill Bredemier moments happened at the Little World probably two or three years ago. I was on a cast with him and Leon Buford, for those that dont know Leon he is an African-American man from Michigan, at the site where the cast was to be ran there was a huge white cross made on the ground I assume it was for some kind of aerial photo reference point. Leon accused Bill of bringing him out to some kind of KKK trap. Bill went on with Leon for the whole hour trying to talk him into standing on that white cross just to see what would happen.
Guys like Bill have made organizations like the ARHA succesful and he is sure to be missed not only by his friends at Three Rivers Beagle Club but by all involved in beagling.

I always got a kick out of Bill. It's hard to say how many he saw run in his day. He will surely be missed.

Yes we did, yes we have lost a living legend. Bill was a friend, a mentor and he was a Houndsman. But mostly, Bill knew hounds. He ran his dogs 363 days a year. You never asked Bill for his opinion and not expect him to be honest. While hunting with Bill on several different occasions in the reclaimed strip mines of southern Indiana or eating at Taylors or the Amish Buffet we talked about everything from football, basketball, women, politics but mostly hunting and hunting dogs.

Bill's philosophy about hounds was simple. A good dog, according to Bill is 70% nose and 30% brains. If he didn't have a nose he couldn't run a rabbit and if he didn't have a brain, well he was a pile of fecal matter(to put it nicely). The rest of the stuff, like speed is easy to get as long as you have a nose and brains. Bill often said, "Most guys have junk dogs. You couldn't give them to me. They come out here and introduce me to their pack of hounds by saying, this is my jump dog and this is my track dog and this one over here is my strike dog and so on and so on." He would continue with, "Most guys don't know crap about breeding dogs, heck if they did they would have one dog that could jump, run a track, get first strike, and make tough checks all in one." He was brutally honest but he was right. I felt like he was talking to me about me. Too many times I was guilty of having "role players" in my pack. I had specialty dogs. This dog for this and that dog for that. I agree with Bill, why not have one dog with all the characteristics that we like. That's when I began to raise the bar in my own kennel. Yeah, Bill challenged me and I am responding. Average is not good enough. Because of Bill I'm striving for Excellence, well bred and good running hounds. I might fall short but I'm giving it a go and won't stop short.

Bill, I'm going to miss you but you're in a better place. You don't have to suffer anymore, there's no pain in heaven. Now you can run dogs all day, everyday. I'm smiling when I think of you once again re-uniting and running rabbits with Ida C, Sadie, Ring, Ghost, Tojo, Barefoot King Patch, Mersadie, Bunny, Red Demon and all the others. Tell Willet and all the other original houndsmen thank you. But mostly thank you for all of your contributions and being my friend.

Rest In Peace
