Got to go with the Remington 870. Brand new they are affordable and you do feel so bad when you go through the nasty stuff. Very durable and easy to clean. Have owned mine for over15 years and it has beeen through hell and back. Wouldn't trade it. Charles daily makes a nice gun also. My buddy loves shooting his but has had problems with parts breaking. The company always came good for the parts.

A buddy of mine was out in Iowa bird hunting last year and left his 870 on the tailgate and forgot about it. His dad then ran it over with the motorhome as they left their hunting spot for the day. When they got back to camp he realized it was gone and went back to get it. The stock had a small crack in it but he killed birds the rest of the week with it... Enough said!

Both of these are tough guns.

I used to use an old 20 ga. Fox/Stevens 311B side by side. IC and Mod choke. Loved that gun but good luck finding one for less than 400. Now I just use my old beat-up H&R single shot. Got it for Christmas when I was 12 so not too worried about taking it through the brush. Every scratch is a story.

My dogs catch every rabbit they run. Cant see why anyone would need a shotgun for rabbits.

I also like and use the 20 ga. Rem. 870 Express Youth Model, a very good gun IMO. I also have a single NE Arms 20 ga., I use it most of the time.

For Rabbit hunting I will not carry any thing other than my newTC Contender "Super 16" in .410 I can kill as many rabbits as if using my Berretta 20 ga semi and it is way easier to deal with when handling dogs.

12 ga. double-barreled over/under shotgun. Trigger #1 is modified choke & trigger #2 is full choke.

870`s are indestructible, but kinda heavy....if going that route, look at the youth models in 20 guage, alot lighter........i like my franchi auto in 20 guage, not really expensive, and ultra light...........
