What State to hunt?
Just wondering, I live in North Carolina, If I had the opportunity to go to another State to rabbit hunt. Where would you seen me for the hunt of a lifetime?

Some place where there is LOTS of hare!
Re: What State to hunt?
Depends on what you want. Do you want a hare hunt or cottontail? I know I would go to Iowa if I had to go out of state for cottontails.

hunting white hares in the winter in northern wi. or up of mi. lots of fun and i'm sure a nc. guy would get a kick out of running in snow.

I would have to agree with Iowa. They've got a ton of rabbits. It seems like there are no rabbit hunters out there. Mostly bird hunters. Although I hear that hare hunting is hard to beat.
Dry Creek Kennel-Bred to get it done where it counts the most "under the gun".

I sure wouldn't advise you to come here to Western Ohio, but I might ask you to pick me up on your way through!

I have been to Iowa and it can be great fun. But the last couple of times we have gone the numbers have been way down. If you do manage to catch it on a good year you will love it. I have also had a blast in Colorado but the dog rules there are kind of jacked up if you ask me.

I would think right out your back door would be good. We have had some memorable hunts near Norlina in years past. Some of my buddies go to Michigan about every year to hare hunt and come back with a gleam in their eyes.
I also have a neighbor that found big numbers of cottontails in Nebraska a few years ago.

You could head a little south to south calackey in the low country you can run from daylight to dark, bring your own band-aids cause there will be some bleeding and cussin.

i was actually supposed to be in iowa at this very minute. should of left out yesterday at noon....(my buddy just called a few minutes ago to rub it in too)
i couldnt go bc of work and having to watch how much vacation i use until the end of the year. out there they consider rabbits about the same as rats and tend to wonder why people even have dogs for them they are so thick out there... most people can step out there backdoors in the evenings and could shoot 10 rabbits in just a few minutes. out of state fees are 110.50 for small game license and 11.50 for the habitat stamp.... if your going out there make it worth the 110.50 thats for sure... there is plenty of rabbits though. i love it out there.just alittle steep on the price for us out of towners... but thats iowa for ya...
