To each his own, I guess, but I can't agree with you guys on the Muck boots. I have a pair that I never wear. You see, I have experienced the best boots from Europe, and the Mucks don't compare. In wet, cold England, the gamekeepers wear Le Chameau boots made in France. I tried some and will never go back to any leather boots or Muck boots again. The Le Chameau boots are costly, but if you want the best, you sometimes have to pay the price.

The Muck boots have a fabric top that gets torn up by briars, unless you wear your pants over them. Also, my feet seemed to sweat badly in the muck boots.

Having said that, I do like the muck SHOES for working around the farm and kennels, especially in cool/cold weather. They get a little too warm in summer.

But the all natural rubber, leather lined, walking boot bottomed, Le Chameau boots from France are the best, in my opinion.

They have several different styles. I bought mine at Cabela's, probably not the cheapest place but they had the size I needed in stock. Like mentioned before Tractor Supply has them too but they didn't have many sizes when I went there.

I liked the feel of my Muck Wetland boots, but they didn't last long enough to justify buying another pair. One of the soles started peeling off within just a few months of light use (cleaning kennels, deer hunting from a stand). I don't think I ever had a pair of boots come apart so fast. The briars would work on the uppers as well, but I bought them mainly to deer hunt with so that didn't really matter to me.

get the "winchester" boots made by PROLINE. 1000 grams of thinsulate. about $70 and lasted me almost 3 years and we have some pretty rough briars to bust thru.

I dont have any trouble with briars tearing up my Mucks because I roll my Mule hunting pant legs over the top of them. The best things about the Mucks are that you dont have to fumble with any zippers or laces, and the tops roll down for easy on and off. Best boot I've ever purchased.

I guess I'm one of the few guys who doesn't care too much for Muck boots.

I don't wear them a horrible amount (not everyday like a farmer would), yet the outside fabric has seperated from the foam around the ankle area. I have had them for 2 years and worn them mainly for bowhunting and some days at work (in the ditch installing water/sewer main). They leak like a bastard around the ankles and like any rubber boot they don't breath.

However, I am interested in buying the Arctic Muck boots for icefishing. They won't get that many miles on them and are supposed to be warm.........we'll see.

Looks like it's Muck Boots all the way. But........ have a look at the LaCross Alpha 7.0 if you would like a little insulation but still cool enough to wear during the summer when the grass is loaded with dew. I like mine. Zipper sides, easy on and off, comfortable for long walking. They're not exactly cheap at around $120.
